"One of the things that we talked about more specifically is that this tournament is played at neutral sites," McClelland said on ESPN Radio's "Selection Sunday" show. "It's not played at home, so there were some teams that had a lot of wins, but they were all at home, none on the road, and no very good wins on the road. So we have to start looking at some of those factors."
This may help some who seem befuddled by Clemson getting a 6 seed. Road wins and neutral court wins matter. Clemson has some good ones over teams in the field. Whatever mis-steps that were made previously with non-conference scheduling were improved upon this year and it made a huge difference...especially since we went out and won those games.
Though our conference record could have been stronger and the ACC tourney game stunk...this team did enough on the whole and here's to hoping that the rest pays off and they come ready to play on Friday against New Mexico. It was a win against New Mexico State that jump-started the last Sweet 16 run....might as well start this one against the other New Mexico team.
