Question about recruiting and scholarships in c baseball

May 27, 2021, 3:28 PM

Has the landscape changed in the last decade or so regarding available "scholarships" for potential baseball recruits? I know that the number of available pure baseball scholarships is limited (soccer and others too) but has the option of using other endowment type money to lure a recruit changed? I am not making a case for Jack or Monte but honestly wondering if the rules for providing other scholarship money are different now from say 10 years ago?
Are we at Clemson at a disadvantage to other schools who have slush funds available to be called scholarships?
If we are at a disadvantage to other "richer" schools then how are we successful with soccer?
Any help in filling in this topic will be appreciated. Go Tigers.

You can be a walk on at Vanderbilt and not have to pay anything. They have it set up on what a players family can afford . At around $ 75,000 a year, a lot of players would fall in that category. This is just endowment money not including the 11.7 scholarships the NCAA allows. This is a huge advantage . There is a reason Vanderbilt has been to so many CWS and won 2 WS since the NCAA changed the rules. The still suck in football where everyone gets 85 scholarships

Baseball players at Vandy can take advantage of that program because it is available to all Vanderbilt students, otherwise it would be considered an improper benefit under NCAA rules.
