Question about possible coach search

If a move is to be made to replace Brownell, how soon does the decision need to come? When do the musical chairs start filling up? I’d guess a decision will be announced either way very soon. What say ye?

Likely the decision has already been made and whatever plays out is in the works. If the decision is to part with brownell it will be announced sooner than later in order to get a jump on the coaching pool before the best candidates get picked out.

you already have many schools looking. Major ones include Georgetown, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, St. Johns, GT, Cal, with more to come shortly

My thought as well. Lots of great jobs out there for Neff to compete against. What does Clemson offer that those schools don’t? It’s going to have to be money, imo.

Slow down dudes. Nothing is going to happen until after the season is done. If Clemson accepts the NIT bid, the season continues.

That’s not true. The AD can already be actively looking and reaching out to coaches as we speak. There’s nothing that says he can’t queue up a deal in the meantime.

We have some pretty good assistants who can pick up that slack if needed. It is also fairer for Brad to be able to start interviewing for some of these openings as soon as possible IF that is indeed where we are.

Lots of teams have carried on and concluded seasons with an interim coach from their staff.

let him go asap...probably won't fill until after Final Four

depending on who is being looked at... There's a lot of networking that goes on at the Final Four. It could be filled prior, if we are looking at someone who is currently in the tournament... once they are eliminated.

One thing we need to be realistic about is that any target we have will be considering other options.
I doubt we are going to get anyone by asking them before someone else does.
I hope Neff has already made overtures to some coaches to gauge the interest, but I have no reason to think anyone considers Clemson a destination job.

point of being that second chance school. Hiring a coach who has been successful, but has baggage. Yes, a Greg Marshall type. Look what has happened at Houston with Kelvin Sampson. Auburn under Pearl.
It's a risk, you're attempting a reclamation, but you're also getting a coach who you know can flat out coach.

I know that there would a lot of people shouting this down but, if we want to win at basketball, you go get Gregg Marshall. He would be one of the top coaches in the ACC on day 1. He is absolutely going to get another shot at some point.

it's probably to soon for the guy who was canned at Texas, but Marshall has been out of things 4 seasons now. He's an SC native. His wife is a nutjob. And, he can flat out coach
