I see post after post about how awful they are, how bad the show is, and how anti-Clemson they are.
What exactly is this based on?

Have you watched game day in the last few years? I quit watching about 5 or so years ago and will not watch it this weekend either.

Because of them throwing shade at us. Corso: “Clemson is overrated, I pick Wake”, Des: “Wake beats Clemson, no confidence in their offense”, newbie and loud mouth Pat McAfee: “Wake beats Clemson big”. Fine if they pick against us, leave their bs narrative out of it. No problem with Herbstreit, Davis or Pollack .. they’ve dumbed down with Des and McAfee.

Picking Wake to win doesn’t seem too unreasonable.
If we are being objective, we haven’t played like a top 5 team this year. Calling us overrated isn’t unreasonable.
It sounds like you don’t like them having an opinion about us that isn’t glowing. That’s a you problem, not an ESPN College GameDay problem.

have been SEC members.
As much as I can’t stand the SEC, it’s hard to argue against their success on the biggest stage.
The same reputation that garnered us a top 4 spot in the polls this year - which wasn’t deserved based on our performance last year or our roster this year - is the same reputation that you seem to have a problem with when it comes to the SEC.

and it is just the same old show every week. Used to be Rinaldi had something good but now they talk the games to death try to paint Saban with a personality (impossible) and tell you who they think will win every hour till mascot head time. Corso needs a segmet on tape because he can't keep up with the show and dump Mcafee. He is awful. And above all else do not make Dez laugh. That ear splitting cackle is the most abrasive thing since Ethel Merman used to sing there is no business like show business. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIiQMsDQ0Uo

I have no issue with GameDay or anyone on it. They were biased toward Clemson for many years during the run until recently and rightfully so. We haven’t exactly given them a reason to pick us in games in a little more than a year now. I imagine that changes this weekend. As far as them saying we are overated, quite frankly we are. We’ve yet to put together a game in all phases against any opponent to prove we are the #5 or better team in the country. But it’s coming.

I think the boys are making those picks against the spread. I might be wrong. However, I'm not a big fan of Herbie or the UGA guy. Big Egos. Whatever the reason the shows not as good as it was. Thankfully they're others am football shows to watch. Plus GameDay only talks about games that will air on ESPN

general. Yes, Corso is getting to be a sad statement on aging, and Dez is just Dez, but all of them are fun to watch. If I want ACC/Clemson homers I'll watch ACCN or just listen to the Tiger Tailgate Show. I can handle a little dissension, especially after the way we played last year and the uncertainty that still revolves around this team.
They always put together some really good pieces for the show.

Here’s my reason. Just one example. This from 2019. The voters listen to all the ESPN blah blah blah. Preseason 1. Then fall to 2, then 3, then 4. All this after win after win after win.

Why do so many figure the voters are going off of whatever ESPN is saying and not simply coming to similar conclusions based on watching the games?
We were #1 until we barely escaped with a 1 point win over an unranked UNC team. Alabama passed us that week after beating A&M on the road by a larger margin than we had beaten A&M at home earlier that season. A few weeks later we got passed by LSU after they beat their 3rd top 10 team of the season while our only ranked win at that point was over A&M. We were passed the next week by Ohio State due to pretty much the same reason.
Now, if someone wants to debate the rankings then I can understand that. However, I don't get the logic of "we fell because of ESPN." Beating ranked teams matters. We were #1 during the regular season in 2015 and 2018 mainly due to beating several top 25 teams.

I admit I watch Gameday during the season...not as much for the entertainment value or predictions but for the actual lineup of games, who is in, who is out, etc.
That being said, if it went off the air I would not miss it a bit. They treat Clemson (and most of the ACC) as red-headed stepchildren of the football world. Even when we were playing at a high level in years past they would talk down about us and how there were too many questions about this or that.
There is a definite SEC/Big 10/Big 12 bias from Desmond and Pat. They both talk over everyone else and rarely bring anything substantial to the conversation. IMHO, the only ones that usually have valid, thoughtful insights are Kirk and David.
The show used to be a somewhat entertaining and informative pregame show. Now it is nothing more than an irritation and noise coming from Desmond and Pat who are trying to be relevant.

You honestly don’t care why, you basically just parrot everything analyst say about Clemson. Anyone who isn’t blind can see the way they’ve always had a bias against Clemson compared to SEC schools. Also to your whole the last 3/4 champions line is hilarious because it’s only Georgia/Bama hasn’t been another team from the SEC in the college playoff but of course you’d fall right in line with the ESPN narrative. Absolutely some people wear very dark orange glasses and refuse to listen to any criticism but you criticize Clemson football in exact ESPN fashion but yet wear those same orange glasses when it comes to basketball and whine like the rest coming up with every excuse under the sun of why they haven’t been good. Props to you though an absolutely dedicated troll, it is cringy when you try to praise Clemson football though you don’t hide your disdain very well.

I’m correct that 3 of the last 4 national champions have been from the SEC: Georgia, Alabama, and LSU.
The rest of your post was just the same tired drivel about me and Clemson basketball that has become as unoriginal as the content you blame ESPN for.

I hate everything about ESPiN.
Sep 27, 2022, 2:48 PM

If you kept up with football, over the years, you'd hate everything about them too. Pre-BCS AP voters had a personal opinion formed by honest research and film study. When the BCS was born ESPN became ESPiN and began to flavor all the college football news reports, highlights and opinions with such that would promotions of SEC superiority.
I've observed through my 70 years on earth that the confidence that a lie is believed to be the truth is directly proportional to the number of times one hears it. They told that lie of SEC superiority until small children who were interested in football became adults. Tell a kid a lie from birth to manhood and you've got yourself a man who will swear a lie in court.
That generation, for the most part, sought a college career in the SEC. It would make him run faster- SEC speed, defend a goal more thoroughly-SEC Defense and just about every other football related function.
ESPiN proved their hype with the BCS by preloading SEC teams in the top 25 which basically allowed them to trade places in the polls being that the term 'A good loss,' was defined as one overrated SEC team losing to another overrated SEC team.
As that generation of players who 'instinctively knew,' that the SEC was the easy path to the NFL the SEC became able to attract more top players. That coupled with the fact that ESPiN and other voters often served the SEC by matching them with a patsy in the NC games. Remember the horrible matchup between SEC's better team and the likes of an overrated Oregon, ND or some other undeserving chump?
So yeah, I hate ESPiN and was glad enough college leaders figured it out when ESPiN pushed two SEC teams into the championship game.
When you watch ESPiN's preseason polls and sees the radical movement of their favorites in the first few weeks you have your first clue. If you notice the blowouts by SEC team of those who are overrated to serve ESPiN's narrative that the SEC is so superior a conference you'll see blowouts of teams which will not show up in the late season polls.
My intent is to never listen or hear another ESPiN lie less I surely began to believe it.

It's all economics and getting eyes to view is part of the model. I believe, the SE (relative to any other region) has the greater percentage of college football fans. I also believe the SEC always had a bigger portion of those SEastern fans.
It was a natural fit for ESPiN to join in contract with the SEC which is presently a big concern of the network.
Clemson enjoyed people across the nation watching us play SEC teams in hopes that we could unseat them. Now, many view Clemson in hopes to see us lose. ESPiN has used Clemson to that end.

ESPN isn’t perfect, but they have done more to promote college football and increase its popularity than anyone else. They - and the TV contracts they agree to - are a huge reason why we have the facilities and coaching staff salaries we have. “Hating everything about them” is ridiculous.

The problem most have with Gameday & their love affair with the SEC is that they act like SEC isn’t like every other conference.
-1-2 really good teams -6-7 ok teams who can (if the stars align) upset one of the really good teams but can also lose to the awful ones -4-5 that are flat awful and basically only beat each other and maybe pull an upset if one of the ok team’s QB is out or something.
ESecPN covers it that because a team is undefeated after week 4, there’s a chance they’ll be in the playoff, when in reality there’s a better chance that team ends with 3-4 losses.
And your assessment of they’ve won 3 of last 4 titles…just because a conference has a champion doesn’t mean it is automatically the best conference…look at the rhetoric w Clemson these past 6 years…clemson is great team in a bad conference, so they are lucky they don’t have to play real competition.

ESPN is no different than any other institution in today's hyper-sensitive politically charged climate.
Regardless, it makes for great national exposure for us, our campus, and our underlying culture, which despite those cantankerous among us, is pretty solid.

I think you know the answer, but I’ll spell it out.
College Gameday is ESPN’s premier weekly college football show. It’s ESPN’s show. ESPN. Ever since ESPN went to bed with the SEC there is an (accurate in my mind) perception that ESPN shows favoritism toward the SEC at the expense of other conferences. In addition, as mentioned above, there seem to be many instances over the years where ESPN analysts have made disparaging comments regarding Clemson. That is why so many on this board have ill will reward College Gameday.

And yet they watch. And comment. And watch some more.

Fox’s pregame show is far superior and yet folks continue to go to bed with Gameday every week.

I think it is a hatred for ESPN in general and the woke network they have become. They fired or ran off all of their real talents and only a remnant of decent personalities are left.
I hate all networks that give Finebaum any oxygen with which to spout his clown-eared nonsense.
Joey Galloway seems hyper-critical of us at times. Ditto for Desmond Howard.
Lee Corso picks against us a lot but then he can't remember why.
I would have mentioned that twit Maria Taylor but she moved on so I will cut them some slack on that one.
These are just a smattering of complaints but you get the point...

No hatred. It's a well-produced money maker for them but after the first hour, all the flavor's chewed out of the gum.
They should shorten to 90 mins and cut out all the feeling-our-feelings and obligatory DEI segments.
And lose the hype girl.
And Turnover Chain McAfee.
And Corso.
Actually, they should probably just blow it up and start over.
Gameday sucks.

I quit watching them a couple years ago. They talked more about BLM and social justice than football. I want to hear sports when I watch sports. I don't want to hear political indoctrination. I don't care what side is doing the political crap, I don't want it in my sports.
