3 things I feel are not getting enough attention

from yesterday…
1. The penalties—- totally uncharacteristic, and has to be one of the highest totals in the last 8 years
2. BT Potters clutch 52 yarder—- just clutch
3. The switch to AW to return the pooch kickoff— set up a late score

Highest since 2014 against OSU, according to Bourret.

I'd say half the penalty yards resulted from DB's intentionally interfering to prevent TD's.

Yea I believe that alone was over 70. Some did save sure TD’s.

I hope to see more of AW on those returns.

Definitely an upgrade over Drew Swinney.***

if we are talking lack of attention I would say the pass protection DJ got yesterday. The only sack that I remember was when Shipley missed a blitz pick up.

No doubt. Wished we would have rushed for more but Shipley and Mafah seemed to trip a good bit yesterday. Still good stats but thought we would be able to control the game more on the ground. Needed to limit Hartman’s touches imo.

We had 70% more time of possession and Wake had 68 offensive plays.

I’d say we limited Hartman’s touches. Unfortunately every time he did touch it, it seemed like Wake scored, haha.

every time they got beaten.
I would’ve benched them for poor play and sorry attitudes.

Agree I Would Adjust As Follows on Penalties
Sep 25, 2022, 9:53 AM
|
|
At least 2 PI and 1 holding were INTENTIONAL and BLATANT to save more yards - 40 yards
The BS late hit call was NOT a penalty -15 yards
Still too many penalties and also Wake should have had 3-4 holding penalties on O-Line. Refs jobbed Clemson there.

I had mentioned to the wife they needed to bump Shipley up and see if Wake was even paying attention. That was a great call putting him in and cannot remember who they put in on the other side.

Good list Snowtown, I would add. . . .

Some of these have been called out by others. But,
4. Pass Pro was really good. 1 sack when Shipley assisted TE in PP.
5. Tyler Davis Impact.
6. Makuba would have covered at least two of those moon balls from Hartman. His range at safety is insane. Not having him and Jones led to many of the penalty yards.
7. In past years we have been able to consistently cave in the middle of the field; we weren't so much yesterday which gave Hartman time.
