In the Pros (and for coaches whether in the pros or college) are ridiculous..when put in respectfulness to what a skilled teacher-professor, minister, gonverment or private employee makes..or even compared to what a great Lawyer or Doctor makes.
Saying, when I see where a pro baseball or football or basketball player garners $100,000,000+ over 5 years worth of possible playing time, then I see a Society that's SiCK and not in touch with what's real & truly important in life..
And it's NOT sports figures or super heros running or jumping or hitting or putting or driving or dunking some innate object to our delight!

But for real...most are gonna say capitalism blah blah blah....but it is bad that we as a society value entertainment to that extent. Eventually after a few more hundred years it will die off just like the Gladiators.

I would say that extends to all entertainment figures. When you consider the average american watches 5 hours of TV a day it makes sense that the people with the highest salaries are those that fill that need by providing entertainment. Sure there are far more important professions to society as a whole, but few result in a national feeling of happiness like the entertainment industry.
If you want an example of how important it is, China is investing billions to improve soccer with 20000 soccer centers being built nationally and money being filtered into its premier division to build a World Superpower by 2050. All of this because they feel sports are the
“foundation for happiness in modern society.”

Athlete salaries don't bother me at all.
Wall Street salaries (especially traders....though most have been fired in favour of programmers so I feel better) bug me but that is mostly jealousness on my part. If they can paid, then get paid!!! Make it rain b#£&_3s!
My CEO (my co has +$50 billion in sales) is overpaid as are many in public co roles. Like the US President (at any time period), too much of success or failure is ascribed to this role. But if I was a CEO, I'd say the rules are just fine.
