Pitt game question

Mar 10, 2014, 10:30 PM

For those of you arguing that the shot should not have counted, can you admit it would not have counted if we hit that shot to tie the game?
I knew as soon as they showed how close it was they were not going to reverse it.
They were not going to change a call that close that results in one team losing. They went with the safe call to let them play OT.

Yes I can admit it....rules are in place for a reason***

Absolutely, but I didn't think it was that close. Based on

The position of his hand when the board went red I was sure he had not released it. Also by his reaction. He knew he still had the ball when the horn sounded.

If it had been reversed Clemson shooting, I would have just said good effort guys, but a split second too late.

Does anyone know when they did their review, did they look at the whole 2.4 seconds ? Was that the right amount based on hitting three? Did it start when kj got the ball? I just never heard or looked at that.

Granted I was not at the game, but from the angle I saw on tv,the ball was just coming off his fingertips whic, imo, constitues a shot.
If the ball had been in his palm,or he had not started his shooting motion,no argument.
But he was in a shooting mode, and it appeared the ball was coming off his fingertips.
It was a judgement call, but Clemson should have never
been in that position.
Up five with under 25 seconds to play, again just my opinion, constitues a major meltdown, and not a bad call.

First off, KJ got mugged, tugged, and jumped on. "Coming

off" is not "off"... As to being in that position, I totally agree.

If it were reversed, the call would have been reversed

Yes I can: and it has happened to us before.

I'd have to research, but we hit a shot ... at home ... that either would have tied or given us the win. It was waved off.

Granted, IIRC, the setup to the shot was not so chaotic, and I'm still willing to gives the refs Saturday a pass on missing the call. Just not on seeing evidence to the contrary and allowing the basket anyway.

that is what gets me. why use replay and still get it wrong. just like Hall's three pointer against MD. Ref was right on it and made the call of 3. Replay inconclusive but overturn the basket and make it a 2 pointer.

WTH??

Referees in football and basketball and umpires in baseball,

one phrase can sum them up. As Skip Carey used to say, "often wrong, never in doubt." They were not going to change that call, even if that's what it took to get the call right.

i thought the uncalled offensive foul that occurred moments

Mar 11, 2014, 10:51 AM

earlier was more egregious. guy clearly pushed off, knocked 2 of our players down and there was no call?
