Pitching Situation for the week

May 17, 2015, 1:11 PM

Erwin was fantastic against FSU on Saturday.

Do you start him again against them on Wednesday? That lets Crownover pitch to Louisville on Thursday. Long on Friday.

Or do you go Crownover against FSU, and Erwin to Louisville. Erwin looked pretty good against Lousiville a few weeks back. That could potentially free up Crownover for a few innings on the weekend.

Im thinking we need 3 wins in this tournament to give us any shot at a post season. What do you guys think?

Keep the order the same and if things work out you possibly have crown for championship. Then let Erwin lead off the regional if we make it. First game would be the 2-3 match up anyway.

not a chance ordinarily, but there is a slight possibility

due to the fact that Ervin only threw 73 pitches to Crown's 120+, and it is a short week. But can Ervin throw Friday (with minimal pitches) then again on Wednesday, giving Crown the full week of rest (Thur-Thur)? Not sure if that is appropriate. I'm sure the staff will look at it.

I didn't see this. The same was being discussed in another thread. I think you guys are on to something, scooter. Sometimes you've got to think outside the box. If it wasn't successful it would open Coach Leggett and Pep up to a lot of criticism, but could the criticism possibly get any worse than it already seems? They moved around Goose and Matthew a bit last year, but Goose had a small injury he was working through as I remember.

Got to let Crownover pitch the FSU game.
After we just swept them, they will be focused.
I think we win the first one and the Tigers win the ACC.

Part of the answer is in who FSU/L'ville start

May 17, 2015, 5:02 PM

If FSU doesn't start Biegalski on Wednesday to give him more rest either for the ACC or for the NCAA, then maybe we start Ervin.

But I've read a number of opinions that if we win at least 2 and assume the play in winner will be UNC we are most likely going to some regional. All three - FSU, L'ville, and UNC are considerably higher than us in RPI. So each win will be a decent boost for us. Some think we could get below 50th if we beat 2 of the better teams.

I don't follow baseball and this pool thingy, but it appears to me that we must win against FSU and UL - and we probably advance to the ACCCG. Is that right? If so, I'd pitch Crownover against FSU and throw everything we have at UL, and let the remaining game take care of itself.
