I believe at least some of our offensive fall off (aside from the obvious issues at QB) in recent times was due to the fact that we rarely went fast anymore. It was easy to see how OTHER teams going fast disrupted OUR defense, and yet, we rarely took advantage of it ourselves.

The slowdown was mostly due to delays in making the offensive play call.... but that may have been delayed in order to figure out what DJU was capable of doing (which they never could do)....

Maybe because he's a spark plug and gets the offense fired up. He and Mafah are both great RBs in different ways, so I expect them both to have terrific seasons in the refreshed offense.

I've just always preferred Phil Mafah's game over Will's. To me, he is the NFL caliber RB on our roster but the DJU-Will Shipley-Brandon Streeter trio was running the show.
I'm also not convinced that Will Shipley will be starting over Phil Mafah by the playoffs.
Just my hot-take. It'll be fun to watch the season unfold.

Phil Mafah is a great RB & so is Will Shipley

Phil is more of a power dancer Who has an unbelievable ceiling for years to come.
Will healthy is an all around guy who can do it all but is best in space, from an effort standpoint, nobody on any team will out work him. He can return punts, kickoffs, play WR with endurance and speed to spare. Will hardly ever gets run downed unless the Defensive backs have an angle & head start.
They love each other & they are driving one another to be great. Phil will probably have a bigger NFL career, it will be fun to watch them to continue to develop. Will played hurt last season and still was awesome. We should have used them both to death against Tennessee & The game we gifted our little chickens, it would have opened up the pass.

Unless what we hear about Riley and our offense is smoke, Briningstool and the TE's should be in the Top 10. Time will tell, but this may be the year we see great production from our TE's which would really open up the outside.

We should improve tremendously by using the whole field, we have the best TE in football this season because of his maturation, this is going to be like the Mike Williams coming out party his sophomore season.
