I’ve got a few takeaways from this video:
1. Tom Allen is a good fit. He will get this turned around. Not hopeful for this season but he will. He knows what’s wrong but he has to work with what he’s got mid-season.
2. I’m interpreting what he’s emphasizing on recruiting as things that we are lacking. Specifically, we have many players on D that don’t love the game. That explains the lack of energy and intensity we’ve seen.
3. The comments on coaching the coaches … sounds like he’s got his hands full trying to develop the staff, and the bit about managing attitude from the players. No bueno. This explains why we’ve not seen any development of players over the past years.

Some of us know the truth. Dabo was nothing without Brent Venables. Dabo will be nothing without competent assistants. Not sure about Allen. He deserves at least one more year.

Some of us know the truth. Dabo was nothing without Brent Venables. Dabo will be nothing without competent assistants. Not sure about Allen. He deserves at least one more year.
This is literally true for any HC in football. HC is as good as the staff he hires and how well they work together.

Allen came in publicly critical of Goodwin and the previous season’s defense. I didn’t like that. I thought it was unprofessional. So he can take the heat with the D underperforming this season.

You didn't like the truth? He's still dealing with players pork chop brought on board. This guy has been upfront and honest from the get-go. This horrible season didn't start this season. It's been a steady demise for 4-5 years culminating into what we're all seeing on the field.
Unless and until Dabo makes major changes with position coaches, support staff and his personal handcuffing of the program for limited portal use and recruiting nothing but choir boys we will continue having these types of seasons.
