If you think of the past 2 (going on 3 now) presidential elections, who has America had to choose from? Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Donald Trump. Just.....wow. No other option other than bad, bad, and bad if not worse.
As always, I'll vote for the best candidate in the SCGOP primary, then summarily watch them lose the nomination. Years past I'd hold my nose and vote for the republican. I can't even do that anymore it seems. Oh well.

There is a move to use ranked choice voting in the SC primary

Piloting RCV in the primary is an interesting concept.

It has the feeling of being lower stakes, so it's not like you're getting people adjusted to it in the general, plus it would be especially effective in the primaries. Heck, I'd even settle for RCV primary vs. trad voting in the general. It would still keep third parties at a disadvantage, but it would make them less important if we got better batches of main party candidates.

Even in the primaries. Ranked choice would go a long way towards eliminating this.
Also our long elections make it easier for those with more money to dominate. Imagine if all national primaries happened on the same day?
