There is plenty to be concerned about, but this is one pitch I'm gonna take.
No need to be riled up over everything DJT does. This comes without taxpayer cost and is better than hosting large events in a big tent.

I'm not super-worked-up about it. But he's using the office of POTUS to enrich himself, his business, and his family. In normal times - these aren't normal - this is enough to be impeached and removed from office. So, the construction helps him do that. But yeah, the construction by itself isn't something I'm concerned about. He's doing a million things that are more problematic.

By act of congress (1961) the WH is considered a national museum and therefore cannot be remodeled without an approval process. Trumps people haven't acquired said approvals but yet have already started demolition. Just another example of him seizing power that doesn't belong to him.

You may want to read the National Historical Presentations Act

Sections 106 and 107, under exemptions. You may be surprised. But, I kinda doubt it.

Here's the real question do you believe the POTUS, who is a temporary resident of the WH, should have unilateral authority to demolish and rebuild parts of the main structure? We're not talking about painting walls and moving furniture; this new ballroom will more than double the square footage of the WH

Just admit that reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Whether you, or I, like it or not is irrelevant. He has the authority to do it.

Something is bound to stick.
Except right now, the guys running the sewers (Republican Congress with no spines) are just sitting around letting every turd through.
