Our coaching staff > than yours...

Aug 23, 2018, 9:01 AM

With the apparent wide spread poor culture and power-abuse issues going on in college football coaching staffs across the country, it just makes you appreciative of the coaches we have and coaching culture that Dabo has instilled at Clemson.

Who knows what's happening behind closed doors, but if what we see or hear from the coaches, players, insiders, reporters, etc. is true, then we don't have to worry about a thing.

I say all of this because I just read the article below concerning a story on Todd Bates (Dabo knows how to pick 'em!) and a 2019 FSU Commit he's recruiting. All of our coaches are so genuine, and truly care more about the individual than football. Just read how, in spite of the recruit being committed to FSU and realistically having no chance of flipping to Clemson, Todd Bates communicates with him like a friend. When this player lost family members this summer Todd Bates (and the whole Clemson staff) were there for him. Then, when Todd Bates lost a family member of his own, he humbled himself and called this recruit just to talk with HIM about losing family members having experienced loss himself. I just don't see this kind of genuineness and humbleness from coaches nowadays.

We as Tigers are truly blessed!

Recruiting quality players/people

Aug 23, 2018, 9:11 AM

should be easy. I say OSU is toast and Urban's time will be over after a few recruiting cycles.

Maryland's football program is also toast. They will not be relevant for many years.

Couldn't happen to better programs and fan bases...

This isn't going to affect Ohio State recruiting all that much if at all. Rivals spoke with a bunch of their commitments and they all had what pretty much was a stock answer from the way the school has been spinning it to them. If anything the program may actually come out stronger. I think Smith was their recruiting coordinator so who knows how that plays out, but as a coach he hasn't done much as far as developing receivers at Ohio State. Their recruiting there has been about as good as anybody but the only guy you can really say was developed well was Michael Thomas. Devin Smith was a first round pick but that was just because he could run really fast.

This whole thing has been an exercise in controlling the message. They led all the press people to believe that the report wasn't going to be released before the press conference because it was prohibitively long. It was only 23 pages and stuff in there would have begged for some follow up.

I was a huge Dan Brooks fan but I think Todd was an excellent addition to this staff. Like all the assistants they are impressive folks in many respects and not just on game day

Bates will be one of the nation's top recruiters within the next few years. He seems like a very genuine, likable guy who knows his stuff.
