They've also gutted their college staff since then.
ESPN just doesn't really have the personnel to do the leg work anymore.
To avoid Clemson bias look at guards for the leg-humpers last year. Espn had Trey Hill over Salyer. Hill was a fine prospect but Salyer was the best interior prospect and it wasn't even close.

Kids get a big state, big school perk. A kid like Hilinski who goes to a HUGE High School(Orange Lutheran) in a huge state (California) will get a better rating than smaller school kids from smaller states like Phommachanh. And I agree, a lot is because of cuts in staff. ESPN studies more highlight films and fewer actual game films which benefits the bigger budget schools.

ESPN actually classed Taisun as a pocket passer, so their credibility when it comes to his rating is out the window.

Just a side note. Taisun had 26 TD passes, completed 70% of his passes, rushed for 13 more TDs, had ONE interception. Didn't get past half time in a couple of games. Pretty sure he is a take over hilinski all the way. Following the rankings by recruiting sites is like betting the house on Mel Kiper's mock drafts.

It’s pretty well established that ESPN has devolved into the worst of the major recruiting services. Rivals and 247 are both far better.
