Barnes Homecoming...

I’ve got to admit, seeing the picture of Rick Barnes and the caption of “Clemson Homecoming” got me really excited until I read the article and realized he wasn’t hired to coach our basketball team.
Barnes did a fantastic job while here, lifting the Tigers to a lofty #3 ranking IN THE COUNTRY!! Now that his kids are grown, I wonder what it would take to get him back coaching the Tigers again?

Barnes has the hands of an accountant. I shook it once.
He was a flash-in-the-pan. Had us at number four, briefly, then we fell off. And he left town. Not loyal to Clemson at all. And what'd he do at Texas that was really memorable? With the best budget, facilities in the country, and with pretty good tradition to back him?

What did he do at Texas?

Seriously?!?
-Made NCAA Tournament 16 of his 17 seasons -Won nearly 70% of his games -Made a Final Four, two Elite Eights, and two Sweet Sixteens -Coached two Naismith Award winners
I think Rick Barnes was a class A jerk in the way he left Clemson, but personal feelings aside, he is a great basketball coach who was very successful at Texas.

... went to RC Edwards and Daniel HS, among the best in the state and on a par with good schools nationwide.
Dissing “South Carolina” schools as an excuse on his way out was disingenuous for sure.

I did like his style of BBall. Always had some monster thugs under the basket to rough folks up. Sort of like guard-center-guard instead of forward-center-forward. Plus, he nearly got into a fist fight every time we played Dean Smith, so that was a plus in my book too.
