Why there weren’t any attempts to run outside and let Shipley and Pace put pressure on the boundary. Unlike Tank from Auburn, you would have to avoid getting taken out of bounds.

That series really ticked me off. They were obviously scared to let DJ throw down field on critical plays. The other team knew that also.

Head scratcher for sure.
Only thing I can think of is they didn't want to get stretched to the sideline and get pushed out to stop the clock. I can remember a ton of times a player has run out and wondered why in the world he did that.

Its called turtle-ing on offense i.e. being ultra conservative and playing ball control to rely on your defense.
Not sports center worthy, but it works if you’re into that kind of thing.
Its a W against a mediocre 7-5 team.
Can we at least act like we’re trying to get a first down there? Ugh. Hard to watch.

it takes so many options away. I didn't like it, but completely understood it. They had 8 in the box and we could show no deception with the zone read a non entity.
Worked out well. They never threatened scoring to tie the game.

Dabo is very conservative and can stay that way in ACC. Tigers rarely even compete on Special Teams. It has worked out well.

I'm guessing this was quite the adjustment for Dabo, as we know he loves to roll the dice. He had to play to the clear strength of the team, the defense. They figured it out. That's a credit to the whole staff, and the players. This team overcame a mountain of adversity

I don’t know why there wasn’t at least an attempt to move into FG range. A FG would have iced the game completely. 3 straight draws is way too conservative!
