Announcers were giving him major props Saturday . Said he was best in the country. Talked about his former teammates and what they are going thru at UVA.

So they “try” the portal………swing and miss on TWO guys…………then all of a sudden we’re “good to go” and “we have our guys we want on oline”…………..WTH?

Not that difficult to understand. We went after two that we felt could help us, they went elsewhere so we had to go with what we had. We did not see any others that were improvements over our current roster.

Great judgement there.

The gamecocks came in with a transfer QB
A transfer WR
And a transfer TE from MTSU that made the best catch of the game.

If they looked hard enough and weren’t so ignorant to the lack of talent that we have in some areas then they would most DEFINITELY find some players that were better than what we have.

It was a lazy attempt to appease fans by giving them lip service.

Difference is Beamer had coached the QB & TE from Oklahoma and already had a relationship with them. I agree if there is the right person who can improve us go for it. But Dabo is not going to recruit just anybody, our culture is very important to him and us.

Someone else mentioned on another thread that our culture might be exactly what some of the young guys in the portal are looking for and need. Dabo can help them too, not just the ones he recruits.

We missed on two guys now our offense is going to struggle?

I certainly agree that using the portal should be a prerogative but not every other OL player in the portal is going to be a blue chipper looking to move up to a more successful program.

The only other alternative would be to tamper and let's face it...that ain't Clemson's style.

One question for the masses. Could the Tigers have landed Oluwatimi or both O Linemen if DW4 or TL16 had been the returning QB?

My guess is their decisions were based on the potential to get to the playoffs.
