Ole Miss

Jan 30, 2013, 8:20 AM

What if ESPN and the NCAA could see that the college football fan base is sick of their behavior when promoting one conference over all the rest. They would need another team from that conference to be relevant, not just BAMA and LSU(beaten by lowly ACC team, don't mention it anymore). What better than to overlook shady, illegal actions in recruiting so a mediocre team could make a rise. If this team could win a major bowl and or NCG, it would give them coverage for quite a few more years. How else do we explain the SUDDEN popularity of Ole Miss with big recruits?

Conspiracy smells like Ole ####!!!!!

The same way you explain a 6-7 program getting 4 5* recruits..With hard work I hope.

More likely with $$$$$$$$***

Aside from the message boards, and their 5 stars

What evidence is there that OM is cheating? Serious question.

You should ask the MIssissippi State Legislature....

Jan 30, 2013, 8:48 AM

they're investigating Nkemdiche's father's job offer.

Re: You should ask the MIssissippi State Legislature....

Jan 30, 2013, 9:24 AM

Not true.
The Mississippi legislature declined to investigate and told the person who requested they investigate to take their information to the NCAA enforcement division.
Actually, I haven't seen any factual information about them cheating, just a lot of people guessing they are. I must admit that it sure looks awfully suspicious.
What are the facilities like at Mississippi anyway? Are they comparable to the facilities at Alabama, LSU, and Auburn, for instance?

Never heard the final result. Stand corrected. Thanx. +1.***

I think RN's father, as the above poster said, is what leads

Jan 30, 2013, 9:02 AM [ in reply to Aside from the message boards, and their 5 stars ]

many to believe some shadey dealings are going on behind the curtains. Other than that, there aren't many 'facts' but if they will go to this extent to get a player, then what are they doing to get these other five stars?

If it looks like chicken ####, smells like chicken ####, tastes like chicken ####, then more than likely it's a coot or it's actually chicken ####....that make sense? lol

It's a coot.. +1.***

I hope it is all legit. The suddenness of their rise in popularity with so many of the top recruits does lend itself to suspicion, though, especially with their mediocrity on the field for so long.

Other than the picture of roughly $500 Laquon Treadwell posted on twitter and promptly deleted... there isn't much evidence.

Yesterday on 680 The Fan in Atlanta, Buck Belue and Jon Kincaid were musing that something fishy must be going on in Oxford if so many high profile players were committing to Ole Mi$$. In addition Kincaid bashed the RN and guys like him who commit to one team and then change. I got to admit this got a chuckle out of me as these boys are typical $EC homers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It does seem fishy, especially when you look at record...

Jan 30, 2013, 10:54 AM

...Ole Miss hasn't been a force in the SEC in a generation or two. Why would so many high ranking recruits choose it over, say, LSU? LSU has played some serious football within the SEC and nationally by comparison. And more than one recruit has 'committed' (useless in my book) to Ole Miss over LSU.

Just asking

Jan 30, 2013, 8:58 AM

It is kinda like when you are watching the Tour De France, they hit the mtns and one guy just drags the rest up the mtns. That's the one cheating the best

If Ole Miss ascended slowly I wouldn't question a bit, but it is just happening too quickly for me to believe.

No proof but plenty of evidence

The bottom line is

Jan 30, 2013, 11:09 AM

What does it matter if they are recruiting via questionable tactics?? The NCAA is so bad they are investigating themselves. The teeth the NCAA HAD years ago is no more. The mighty dollar is running college athletics and that directly or indirectly ties back to the NCAA in some way.

Why not cheat? What is the deterrent? A school decides to practice what is deemed recruiting violations to attract top notch players. That team wins a championship a year or two removed from the now practiced violations (unreported). Two or three years later they are found to have cheated and thus placed on a bowl ban and loss of scholarships for a year or two. I ask, how much does that really hurt the school? Look at the trade off...bowl ban of two years and loss of 15 scholarships over a 2 year period BUT they are also a national championship team???

Kids will still flock to the school to play them. We went through the same thing in the 80s and our punishment was sever and restricted our tigers in a major way. However, in this day and age money is much more of a factor than 30 years ago.

IMO, the NCAA will be a complete NON factor in the next ten years. College football will be nothing more than an a farm team much like baseball has now. Players will be paid for their services and the ban will be lifted on coming out before a players 3rd year of school.

I never make a "mark it down" prediction...but mark this down...it will happen. The sad thing is, we all know it will happen.
