Okla. in Fiesta or Bama in Sugar, what is the preference?

Nov 16, 2012, 9:58 AM

Of course neither of these two teams may be the ones playing in these bowls but as things stand right now these would be the most likely opponents.

I understand the travel may be better for the Sugar, but really both trips will likely require air travel. Oklahoma may be the better matchup but odds are Bama would not play well since the game is not for a NC. Utah killed Bama a few years ago when they didn't show up to play in a bowl game.

Doubt we would play Oklahoma

As of now we are slated to be the last 2 teams picked for at large spots. That would put us in separate bowls. My preference would be to get Notre Dame in any game.

I thought Fiesta had a tie in with Big 12. Even though KSU is likely champ of Big 12 wouldn't Fiesta take next best Big 12 team to face an at large?

I don't know what the pecking order is for the BCS bowls with at large spots, but if the team gets to choose then I think ND would choose to play Bama in the Sugar. That leaves the Fiesta as the only BCS option and I think the likely opponent is OU.

Fiesta gets first choice

If K State is in the title game I would bet the Fiesta takes a possibly undefeated Notre Dame team before anyone else.

If we get there, keep the revenge tour going-BAMA!***

We have to beat NC State and then USUK before this will even matter.

Bama or another team with a mediocre offense

Nov 16, 2012, 10:45 AM

Actually, I don't know a ton about OU, but I think we'd match up better with Bama.

Sugar bowl

Nov 16, 2012, 10:46 AM

Would rather play Georgia in the sugar because if the coots can beat them we should have no problem. Also playing in the New Orleans dome would guarantee perfect weather for the game

After reading the front page article seems like a lot has got to happen before Clemson even gets a "thought" about a BCS bowl. That article also gave me the feeling that the ACC teams will only be considered after the PAC12, Big10, Big12 and SEC teams are picked. This is not looking good for the future. ACC teams have got to start scheduling OOC teams that are consistently ranked in the top 25. In the long run it will help those ACC teams and the conference. Until we do that, we can only expect this kind of treatment.

By "we" do you mean how Scar is being treated. The "a lot has to happen" that you are referring to is Oregon winning out (not necessarily a long shot). Go back to your own board!

Its more likely to be a choice between Bama in the Sugar and Texas A&M in the Fiesta. In order to get a handle on this thing at this time, you have to make at least 2 assumptions:

1) Oregon & K-State win out
2) Clemson wins out

If Oregon finishes #1, Rose gets first pick and would take ND (even if they lose to USC) to play Nebraska.

If K-State finishes #1, the Fiesta gets first pick, and they would take ND ... probably to play Oklahoma.

That leaves Clemson & Bama for the Sugar.

If Oklahoma opts out of the Fiesta in favor of the Sugar, that puts Clemson in the Fiesta against Texas A&M.

If either Oregon or K-State fails to win out, that opens the door to another set of possibilities.

I think we would work OU. Bama, not so much.***

Having BV on the sideline would have to be a huge benefit if playing OU.
