Meet the next Dabo

Anyone feeling like the Garrett Riley hire is the beginning step for grooming the next head football coach at Clemson? Bob Stoops hired Lincoln Riley to be OC and just a few years later, Stoops steps down saying that he found the perfect fit to pass the baton to. Sure, he'll go somewhere else in a couple years to gain more experience, but he'll "be familiar with the Clemson way" and step right into it when Dabo has had enough. Thoughts anyone?

Were you a Clemson fan before 2019 when you joined TNet?

Riley will be long gone before Dabo leaves.

That will not happen because somebody will get Riley first. Dabo could easily another 10-15 years so slow your roll.

I could see it Dabo may be fed up with the new college football scene. His youngest son will be graduated in 4 years. I'm not saying it will happen but it wouldn't shock me.

So you’ve been thinking about this also.
Of course, neither you nor I (nor anyone) wants Dabo to retire any time within the next 75 years, but he clearly has enjoyed getting to coach his sons along with our other players.
None us Clemson fans are entitled to having a great football team; all we can do is support (both as fans and as financial donors … even if most of us can only afford a small donation to IPTAY) the Clemson football team any way that we can.
Indeed, a sense of entitlement is not helpful to Clemson or healthy for us fans. What’s needed is a sense of deep appreciation for what we already have with us.
We should never feel entitled to what Dabo has done for us and Clemson. He’ll be gone from Clemson one day; appreciate him for what we have for as long as we have him.
Go Tigers!

As of now don’t see it, if somehow Riley is still here in 4-5 years then I could see them having had that conversation in his hiring process

If things go well for the offense the next three years, I could see Riley on the short list if Dabo decides to hang it up 10-12 yrs from now. Of course it will depend on how Riley does as a head coach. Many of us thought Jeff Scott would do well as a HC and be on the future short list, but now he would need to follow up with an amazing tenure in a second stint as head coach.

I'd say if there is a followup to Dabo he's still in grammar school.
