The latest thing is how, now that he may be disputing Hutchinson's "BOMBSHELL!" (LOL) testiomony, Tony Ornato all of a sudden is no longer credible. Think about this: Hutchinson is testifying, telling the committee about events that she herself didn't witness, but was allegedly told by somebody else (Ornato) who did not witness it either, that the president "said something to the effect of" ... third-hand hearsay ... and it was DAMNING and a BOMBSHELL! But wait, hold up, her informant, the source of this tale says he didn't tell her those things. Oh, that's okay, don't listen to him, he's a known liar, and has no credibility.
I mean, you can't make this shid up! On the other hand, maybe somebody did.

It isn't "all of a sudden". There's been persistent talk for awhile about Ornato's relationship with the boss. He got special dispensation to become Deputy Director of the White House...while still on active duty as a Secret Service agent. That's a shocking mix of politics crossing over into an allegedly neutral service.
I've seen Carol Leonnig - who won a Pulitzer for her 2015 reporting on the Secret Service, which is as "not all of a sudden" as it gets - doing numerous pieces over the last couple of years reporting on Trump's massive corrosive effect on the agency.
This is from May 18, 2021.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvv-RYtXX0I
Sorry, you are 100% wrong in your perception on this. They've been up Trump and Ornato's grill for awhile. Go to google. This has been a theme for awhile. Some of them even sent Leonnig a Tweet. Some of them - guess which ones? - even sent Leonnig Tweets applauding the rioters and the insurrection.
Every time I think you've shown a moment of sanity you start huffing the Fox News again, bro.

Because he is the source for much of Hutchinson's DAMNING BOMBSHELL testimony, the credibility of which would be entirely dependent upon Ornato's credibility.

That's a great big intellectual fart, there, bro.
Ornato's got a history of forgetting conversations he's had with people. Keep in mind the people accusing him of this are freaking MAGA Republicans, all of whom worked in the Trump White House. Google Alyssa Farah Griffin, she was as MAGA as MAGA gets. She was an associate producer on Laura Ingraham's show, her dad owned WorldNetDaily, she was the freaking communications director for the Freedom Caucus under Mark Meadows...and then was the Director of Strategic Communications in the White House under Trump. I mean...wow. And now, this:
https://twitter.com/Alyssafarah/status/1542247899383402498
At some point you gotta figure: Ornato's a typical Trump minion, self-serving, ambitious, Peter Principled a mile over his actual qualifications and ability...but utterly loyal to the boss and willing to cross whatever lines Big Man tells him to.
That's exactly the kind of flunky Trump and narcissistic sociopaths like him always attract: weak venal men with no morals. When you see one of them getting bumped up the line a mile over his head, you know exactly what you're dealing with. Ornato very much looks like he's Brad Parscale or Matthew Calamari or one of a seeming hundred just like them Trump's had in his orbit over the years. They're very much a type.
Crap, everybody's had That Boss at work, usually several of them. What kind of flunkies swing around in their orbits?

You don't have to ascribe "credibility" to him. Trump isn't going to be charged for assaulting Ornato since clearly Ornato and the other agent in the car aren't remotely interested in pressing charges.
So whether or not Ornato was telling Hutchinson the truth (here's where maybe you could jump in and say: "hey, Ornato tells stories sometime", and I'd agree), that incident in the limo where Trump is alleged to have tried to grab the wheel and choke an agent out may or may not have happened, but the conversation he had with her almost certainly did.
As an aside...personally, I think the incident did happen. Trump's a big ape and he's got a long history of rape allegations against him, and as a former bouncer I can tell you he's exactly the sort of handsy entitled big baby that I had to dump a whole lot of out on the sidewalk and more than once have to call the cops on while restraining, and handsy entitled babies always seem to get physical when thwarted until you establish that you will hurt them real bad if they continue to push you. (It's the only thing they do respond to when the red mist descends, in my experience, like dealing with a real mad overgrown six-year-old who will not accept he will not get his way.)
But regardless of whether or not that struggle in the SUV happened, it simply does not matter. It's just an embarrassing anecdote, legally meaningless because it has no bearing on Seditious Conspiracy or defrauding an election or obstruction or anything else he's likely to be charged with.
The bottom line is I'm close to 100% sure the Committee can establish Ornato at least said it happened, and he's risking perjuring himself if he testifies otherwise.
I actually think this is a dangerous tac for Trump to take, and I can promise you his lawyers wish he'd shut the %$^& up and I definitely think they'd prefer Ornato said nothing at all. Because the struggle in the SUV is embarrassing politically...but the more Trump fixates on that, the more legal peril on the real dangerous charges he's putting himself in. Because especially if in the process of trying to refute that story he goes and confirms on the record several points the Committee is trying to establish.
Trying to smear Hutchinson as a credible witness is pointless at this juncture, IMHO. America listened, America saw, and stuff's on the record now. If the Committee is a metaphorical siege on Trumpworld, this is the part of the siege where they're long through the walls...and they're into the castle itself now, getting to people just one remove from the major players. At this point, it's Save Yourself time, because the war is lost.
What comes next is...predictable. The rats are going to scatter, trampling on one anothers' heads on the way out.

Well, yes, Karen. Talking folks down before they got to the truly dumb stuff was in fact the biggest part of the job. Usually it even worked. Just...establish boundaries.
Of course, there were always the entitled narcissistic big babies, as I mentioned. Those folks didn't like me much and instinctively don't even out in the real world because they know I'm not afraid of them. Narcissistic big babies hate anyone who can put boundaries on them.
Not talking about anyone in particular, of course.

At best, Hutchinson is telling what she says Ornato said, and Ornato is telling what Bobby Engel told him. Yet NBC and all of the Pro-Dem outlets referred specifiically to that as BOMBSHELL testimony. Add on top of that, Ornato may not be credible at all, so that part of her BOMBSHELL testimony is very, very shaky at best. The lynch mob committee and the complicit media played that part up for all it was worth, so don't pretend now like it doesn't matter. I agree it was never anything but anecdotal at best, IF TRUE, but again, that didn't stop the lynch mob from blowing it up over and over and over, and they are still doing it, as they did on NBC this morning. That's the bottom line with this whole charade. Truth, justice, and legal process is totally irrelevant. Instead, this is a flat out hit job to smear and ruin Trump so he can't run again. If they can prove anything illegal, great, but if not, so be it, throw every unverified allegation and anecdotal smear you've got against the wall, and hope something sticks.

I would offer this: this isn't really a trial of public opinion. I've heard it described more than once that "public opinion" is a great big shambling dumb dinosaur, and all it takes is a prod in the a$$ to get it going in a different direction again.
This is a legal matter now, and those stakes are a lot bigger. The Committee is painstakingly trying to establish a baseline of indisputable-as-possible facts, from which the DOJ can proceed to actual charges.
The nightmare scenario for the Committee and the Dems (and in my own personal opinion, the country), would be if Trump & Associates beat the legal charges that are almost certain to result from these hearings.
At that point, Trump can stand, victorious, claim "complete and total exonoration" as he did after his (cough) two impeachments, and he'll be standing there again, bulletproof and vindicated...and public opinion swings right back to his side again. And he probably cruises right back into office in 2024, since let's face it, the biggest part of Trump's appeal has always been his outlaw swagger, that he can get away with giving both middle fingers to the The Establishment. He wins this one, he's going to be pretty much unstoppable.
I don't think that happens, personally. This is death by a million paper cuts, now, and I think they're going to just keep slashing away legally until Trumpworld bleeds out and collapses, and once it's clearly demonstrated Trump was just a con man fraud all along with feet of clay, all but his most devoted followers will abandon him without even realizing why they're doing it: tribalists won't follow a strongman who isn't actually strong.

lied to her about it, that is an Ornato credibility problem, not a Hutchinson problem. The story is just color anyway. She testified that Trump knew they were armed and wanted them to march on the Capitol without going through the mags because they weren't there to harm him, they were there to harm others.
Judging from the reaction of Trump and the MAGAverse attacking her every day, her overall testimony was indeed a bombshell.

And Ornato's about to support his boss into a twenty-year stint at Sing Sing for Seditious Conspiracy while saving him from an assault charge that was never coming anyhow.
"Why yes, yer honor, Donald did try to lead that mob up to Capitol Hill and he was incredibly peeved we wouldn't let him because everybody was packing those guns and knives and spears we had warned him about he didn't care about because he thought they weren't going to hurt him, but he never tried to choke me when we stopped him from doing that!"
I can see Liz Cheney's tail twitching like a cat about to pounce already. You know she hopes Donald takes that bait so bad she can't see straight.

This is the official statement of The Secret Service in response to inquiries. Note there is not reference to any debunking or refutation of Hutchinson's testimony.
The United States Secret Service has been cooperating with the Select Committee since its inception in spring 2021, and will continue to do so, including by responding on the record to the Committee regarding the new allegations surfaced in today’s testimony.
Below is the tweet from Peter Alexander supposedly "debunking" Hutchinson's testimony. According to a "source close to the SS" neither man was technically "assaulted" by Trump and Trump "never lunged for the steering wheel." OK. So, the "source" is not saying the conflict never happened or "debunking" Hutchinson's testimony, just suggesting while not under oath that it unfolded a bit differently than Ornato related to Hutchinson.

There's little doubt that you are a smart guy, but your endless embrace of anti-DJT conspiracy theories is just nuts.
Don't the Russia Hoax and the new evidence of Dominion voting machine fraud trigger the slightest impulse of circumspection to these DJT conspiracies which seem to always incite your passions?

credibility. So, if his credibility is in question, then the part of Hutchinson's testimony that was based on his story is not credible. If he's not credible, you can't use him as a credible source. This is not complicated. Now, if he's credible, lets bring him in and let him testify. Otherwise, make up your mind whether or not his stories are credible, and you can't just choose the ones that fit your narrative and discount the ones that don't.

Was Hutchinson so stupid for taking the word of, as you and Q have put it, a 'known liar and Trump lover' as the basis of her 'I heard it through the grapevine' testimony?
By itself (taking the word of a 'known liar' as the basis for her testimony), she has already hopelessly discredited herself.
Then again, if Hutchinson is just the latest fool to be used by the Democrat party (i.e., Christine Blasey Ford v. 2.0), then that is also understandable.
Either way, the J6 Committee hearings exploded like a grenade in a porta potty with Hutchinson as the one who pulled the ring.

Do you really believe that Hutchinson is so stupid that she would take a known 'always Trumper' statement and report that 'high quality' 3rd hand truth as the basis for her testimony against Trump?
Either Hutchinson is either the dumbest woman on the planet (OK, Pocahontas Warren and Maxine Waters are the two dumbest), or else she's a liar.

and former member of the 101st Airborne and decorated combat veteran with multiple medals for heroism in combat as well as a special advisor to the Cambodian Army. Too many accolades to name. He is a former National Security Advisor to Trump before moving into a similar role for Mike Pence. He is a badass. He did not trust Tony Ornato.
He has testified before the committee under oath and is likely a source of information that corroborates Hutchinson's testimony and conflicts with Ornato's.

There will be several of these, IMHO.
If Ornato steps up to Hutchinson, he's putting himself in the crosshairs of a canyon-ambush perjury trap. I just have a seriously hard time believing the Committee put this out there without corroboration.
And if Ornato blows himself up going after Hutchinson, it just makes what's an already bottomless-looking rabbit hole that much deeper for Trump because it'll just serve as yet another graphic illustration of what happens to people in Trump's orbit who try to lie and cover for him.

Great ... so Keith Kellogg (decorated veteran, truly a great thing) doesn't like Ornato.
Why didn't Hutchinson cite Keith Kellogg as her third-party witness which she cited during the finale of the J6 Committee proceedings?
Because K.Kellogg wasn't there. Kellogg's allegations of Ornato's lying (because he had allegedly heard of untruthful statements from Ornato in the past) has no bearing on the overall testimony.
I'll bet you that Kamala Harris, Liz Cheney, Jill Biden, Keith Olbermann, Stephen Colbert, George Costanza ... I mean Brian Stelter ... also will testify that Ornato is dishonest.
That'll mean a lot, if your predictions have any meaning.

LCheney and AK are democrats? CHutchinson is a democrat? The majority of people who have testified UNDER OATH are democrats? You got some splaining to do.

Again, you are trying to argue that everyone testifying under oath is lying and those that are asking for pardons and hiding behind executive privilege are telling the truth.

One person's testimony? Have you been asleep? The J6 committee was doing quite well even b4 CHutchinson's testimony. Again, you are dismissing everyone who is testifying under oath and believing those asking for pardons and hiding behind executive privilege.

The GOP walking out of the Committee was one of the worst strategic mistakes in the history of the House.
McCarthy and the Pubs were busy playing politics for the benefit of Foxworld - preaching to the choir, there - and somehow didn't realize the persuadable middle were the ones they needed to actually reach.
Now it's just the ones who hated Trump the most preaching to the persuadable undecideds, with absolutely devastating effect, and they are controlling the interviews, the direction of the inquiry...everything. And in the process they are uncovering a treasure trove of facts the DOJ is going to mercilessly beat Trumpworld over the head with.
Yes, yes, I know. "When we retake the House, we're going to respond in kind with Hunter Biden!"
Bravo for your "side." I could care less if Hunter Biden winds up impaled on a stake, the dude seems like an utter waste of human flesh, and if Daddy gets burned too for standing too close to him, Oh Well. Poppa Joe was nothing more than an empty suit compromise candidate doing a job...and he's not doing a lot of it very bloody well.
So sure, the Dems will cheerfully trade their elderly sock puppet for the head of the Cult of MAGA Personality. By definition MAGA is a one-man party. The progressive left would probably rejoice if a GOP House did fry Poppa Joe because that'd mean they get Kamala Harris for the rest of Joe's term.
So much winning, MAGA.
My own hope is, I sort of hope Joe does go down too. At that point maybe everyone will be so thoroughly tired of this two-party zero-sum crap they finally get fed up enough with the way our two ridiculously dominant parties are acting they finally go a new direction for once. Somebody like Justin Amash or Adam Kinzinger would start looking really good about then, IMHO. Especially if the two parties try to give us this crap, you can see it coming a mile away already:

Yep. Spot on. Regardless of whose fault that is, this comittee is 100% illegitimate for this reason. It's a hit squad with one purpose - to ruin Trump. Anything resembling fairness, balance, and objective truth is purely incidental.

You believe Trump is 100% innocent and that everyone testifying is lying? Cause if what they are saying under oath is true, then that justifies the J6 committee. Prove me wrong.

I doubt that Trump is 100% innocent of any and all

wrongdoing.
I think Trump's massive (yet fragile) ego would not allow him to accept that he lost the election (and still wont). I think he tried every trick in the book to stay in office and have the results overturned. I think he has a fat mouth and says and tweets a lot of stupid things. I make no excuses for any of it. I don't support him or any of that, and I wish he would go away. I am ready for a sane, reasonable, "normal" Republican to step up and drive the same policies and agenda, and get our country out of the shitstorm Biden and his puppetmasters have plunged us into.
So, I doubt that Trump is 100% innocent, but so far testimony has been weak and requires a lot of dot connecting, if it can be corroberated and if it holds up under cross examination when the accused is allowed a defense. Nobody yet has testified that Trump ever admitted to losing the election, and with that acknowledgement, discussed a coup or overthrow of what he knew to be a legitimate election. Nobody yet has testified that Trump coordinated with the Proud Boys or any other protesters pre-riot to show up armed with a plan to storm the capitol, violently breach security, and enter the building. If you get that, good, nail him. If you can get him on something else, go for it. No qualms from me. So far, all you've got is a bunch of weak tesimony and allegations, wildly, laughably hyped up as BOMBSHELL by the PR wing of the Dem party, aka mainstream/leftist media, all presented by a committee who is made up entirely of people who are bitter enemies of Trump for the sole purpose of destroying Trump.

If you are making the argument that the Republican party leadership is stupid, lazy, crooked, and stupid (yes, twice stupid), then I'm all in with you on this one.
