O-line solution:

Nov 11, 2021, 11:11 PM

After watching Pittsburgh's O-line I've come to the conclusion we aren't teaching our guys to HOLD properly. If we hold we will win haha

Truer words were never written. Most OLs hold on every play but rarely get flagged.

Sorry, but you have it all wrong .You have to pay off the referees not to call holding ,or even false start penalties from a secret slush fund hidden under the slide in the new addition to the teams workout facility.

I've heard heavy drinking makes bad OL play less noticeable and much less memorable

Senior / experienced O-Line to college referees are akin to experienced MLB pitchers & MLB catchers with the MLB umpires.

The MLB pitcher & catcher combo learns which MLB umpires have a wide strike zone and those which have a narrow strike zone. If the pitcher is truly a control pitcher (remember Greg Maddux), he can throw to the 'barely out of the strike zone' spots when a game is called by one of those 'wide strike zone' umpires. Huge advantage for the pitcher / catcher.

Inexperienced MLB pitchers / catchers are not as good at doing this with the 'wide strike zone' umpires; therefore the pitcher / catcher combo is not as effective in this area.

Pitt's senior-centric O-Line is akin to the experienced MLB pitcher / catcher combo. They don't have to be as talented as some of the younger O-Linemen on other teams, but they know how to hold and not get flagged.
