I think there is a clear cut number 1 in this category. Just wanted to see what others think.

Agreed.
Not sure we have anyone behind him that's be an effective runner/blocker. Mafah is the safety-valve.

He’s my number 2. Only reason he’s not number 1 is I think they can move guys around and cover up his loss. We are also loaded across that DLine which helps LB’s

Mafah and Cade are both extremely important. However, I'm not afraid of losing anyone except for the place kicker this point. Keith Adams is a career ending decision if he's running down hill and you try to tackle him head on or one on one. Cade has Pearman to back him up and we all know he makes decent decisions even under pressure.
The only question we have right now is the place kicker on special teams. Who will be the starter and back up?

Adams isn’t remotely close to Mafah. We lose Mafah we are in trouble. It’ll be a RB by committee.

When does one go from "two-headed monster" to "running back by committee" ? Ship had a lot of reps last year.

So much depth on the line. I think we can still be good without him. Maybe not elite but good.
The drop off from Mafah and RB2 is drastic.

1. QB is the most important position. 2. No back up even close to being ready.

RB success is predicated by the OL, it is a plug and play position that can be adequately filled with ave talent that's proficient in ball security & assignments-

We don't have a viable backup quarterback who can be expected to come in and win games.
In fact, neither has played any meaningful snaps in a college game.
I'm not convinced we can be above .500 without Cade.
Other players such as Mafah are obviously difference makers, but it's much easier for a running back to come in and be effective. Expecting a QB to do that is unrealistic, especially with the unproven backups we have.

Cade. It is harder to win with an inexperienced QB than an inexperienced RB. FSU makes the playoffs last year with a backup RB. If Cade is out, defenses will stack the line and stop Mafah. If Mafah is out, Cade can win with the improved WR depth this year.
