My question is who gives FK what Bill Connelly or anybody else thinks about Clemson. Personally, I love Clemson university and most of the sports programs that Clemson offers. That's how I feel about Clemson and I don't care what anybody else thinks or feels!!!

While I agree with you on who gives a rats behind, I think a little hate might be good for the team. I like playing the ROY card vs the endless rat poison we've seen all year. Cade leader in Heisman etc etc.
Hate to say it, but I actually agree with his assessment. We were extremely fortunate to even win the acc... had we lost and played a meaningless bowl, who knows what trajectory we're on. I certainly think it'd have made it harder to recruit.
All said, I'm pumped about this year. We should definitely have a better oline, and our defense, with the portal additions and new great coach gets me fired up. Can Cade make the downfield throw? Hope so. It'd be awesome if Cade was 210 at the weigh in.

Cade led the nation in TD passes of 20 or more yards last year.

He was in the top 3 in:
Throws of 20+ yards: 78 attempts
Completions of 20+ yards: 35 completions
Yards on throws of 20+ yards: 1,240 yards
Touchdowns on throws of 20+ yards: 16 touchdowns
Based upon the improvement we have seen from Cade and the health, depth and experience of our wide receiver room this year, it would not surprise if he moved from top 3 to Number 1 on most, if not all, of those categories.
Also, Cade weighed 210 at the Big Weigh In on July 31st last year. I bet we see him closer to 215 at this year's weigh in. He looks bigger.

I agree that the hype is a bit much, considering that we are (mostly) all assuming that all of last year's shortcomings have been completely corrected by Allen, Boulware and Luke.
For goodness sake, we haven't seen the team play a down and we think everything's coming up roses. A lot of this view lately has been fueled by some of the national sports writers who love to spread rat poison..... and readers (including some players) love to eat it up.
There are a lot of areas that concern me: punter, O-line, DEs, LBs, Safeties, CBs, RBs, TEs and schemes. I expect we're working hard to correct all of these concerns and I do hope we've turned the corner by LSU kickoff.
If we can come out firing on all cylinders from the gun with LSU, it should go a long way toward answering many questions and give the team the confidence it needs to take care of the rest of the season. I hope to see us jump out to a quick lead and play some good defense.
Putting down a good marker with the first game can set the tone for the rest of the season.

Yeah because no team in the history of college football returning an experienced squad has never improved from one season to the next. What a DA.

when he was still doing stuff for SBNation. Bill Connelly is a nerd, but that's about it. He's certainly not actually a Clemson hater. He was one of the first people really pumping us as a title contender in 2015.

What happened last year...
Remember a year ago when everyone said the D would be great again and the offence wouldn't amount to much because we didn't have any good receivers?

them in every publication and spout of about how "lugubrious" they're going to be after the LSU game than saying how they've arrived. This team needs the germanders to be questioning their manhood and go back to telling them that they're just the best team in a BAD conference.

We underperformed last year. Our defense was bad and our offense was sporadic and very often conservative.
Luckily, we have a new DC. That's reason for a little dose of hopium. And we have 5 first round draft picks on Offense and Defense. Our QB & OC are going into their 3rd year together and should be taking a big step forward.
But, I can completely understand those who prefer to wait and see. They need proof. And the opportunity to announce ourselves to the world comes on August 30th. We'll all know what's what that night.

I missed the part where he explained why he’s a hater.
Since he failed to explain it, I’ll just assume that it’s a job requirement for his continued employment at ESECPN.

If he is mentioning Haynes as a needed big producer, maybe he isn't as educated as he thinks he is. Coming off his injury, he may be a minor part of our offense.

I came on here to say the same as clover65® and go a little further. This team has a lot to prove IMO and I’m not crazy about all the hype. But this guy doesn’t seem to have done his homework. He mentions Cade, Wesco, Moore, and Haynes as guys that will need to vary the offense. No mention of Antonio Williams or the experience on the OL or EZ and Davidson at RB. He also says the defense was poor against the run in spite of having PWoo, which is true, but he fails to mention PWoo was playing out of position most of the year. It just sounds like he guy didn’t do his research.

Agree. He left out some important keys to the offenses success. Haynes may not be a factor at all or at least until later in the season. I disagree that Moore is just hyped due to a couple of catches against Texas. The WR group is legit. The D does have a lot to prove though. Even with Woods inside they did not live up to expectations last year. Texas ran all over us in the Playoff game.
I don't like the hype either and I hope this team doesn't fall for this rat poison others are throwing out there. As a team that lost 4 games last year, 2 at home and one to an unranked opponent they need to make major progress in multiple areas. The talent is there for a great season and hopefully Allen can work some magic with the defense. We need quite a few pieces to fall into place including - find a RB, stay healthy at LB, Better DE play (other than Parker), and improvement across the board on D. That is a whole lot to ask for but its possible.
