So you love all the cost cutting measures Trump is implementing. You agree with Trump that Powell should lower interest rates so we can pay off debt at lower rate from the money being saved. You support Trump eliminating financial fraud, waste, corruption and abuse. Sure you are. And you call us cult.

Men playing women’s sports and tampons in boys restrooms are not issues.
Trump and Fox News made these issues so gullible morons like you would vote for the fat orange fraudulent clown.
Do you know anyone that has been impacted by Men playing women’s sports or tampons in boys restrooms? Go ahead you are in a safe space on TNet, you can share your journey with us.
Meantime, I know quite a few people and companies negatively impacted by trumps policies.
Specifically I know a conpany that cancelled the construction of two manufacturing facilities in SC due to the tariffs. There were going to imports components, manufacture in US and then export. Not gonna happen. Trump doesn’t even understand the term intermediates.
Women’s sports and tampons are just a bunch of BS rare instances that Trump used as red meat to get you all fired up and convince you he would make America great again.
You are not woke. You are asleep gullible and unaware of what’s going on in the world around you if you’re at all concerned about men in women’s sports and tampons anywhere.

The one thing I have learned over the years about deficit spending is when the president you voted for is doing it, you feel it’s justified and are ok with it. However, when the other side wins, suddenly cutting spending becomes important. This holds true whether you have an R or a D after your name.

That was ONLY because Clinton flat out changed the accounting method to calculate the deficit by taking the social security “trust fund” (previously excluded from “the budget “) and using that money (moving it to a different column) to offset existing real deficit to create a magical “surplus.” Since then, the subsequent administrations have even eliminated that surplus. The accounting was a hoax.

Even pet birds would refuse to sheet on that worthless rag. Do you really think the losers at that national enquirer wannabe know more about finance than the professionals in charge of Clemson’s budgeting. Debt is a tool that when used wisely strengthens an organizations balance sheet. I have confidence in Clemson’s finance team.
P.S. did anything happen in the last decade that signicantly lowered interest rates and made debt more attractive? Let me think what was that….

Debt is a tool that when used wisely strengthens an organizations balance sheet.
The only way that debt strengthens a balance sheet is if it's coupled with - or followed by - loan forgiveness.

Unless the product of the deb t is invested in an endeavor that returns cash (or cash equivalent) at a faster rate than debt service.
What are we investing in that returns income in excess of the debt service?

The problem with more revenue is that the budget always expands to spend it, so long term, there's no improvement to the balance sheet.

Bond debt is retired each year. The maturity of bonds
May 9, 2025, 6:59 PM
|
|
of the bonds are stretched out. Of course we’ll acquire new debt/bonds as the university moves forward and continues to grow. The university’s balance sheet has a net position of over a billion. Revenues exceed expenses by a wide margin. This is all from the fiscal year ending 2024. Clemson also has an endowment which is separate of over a billion. It has other related entities like the Athletics dept and others in strong financial shape. It has a high bond rating which allows more favorable borrowing terms. It has a growing “customer” base. In order to continue to grow that customer base and maintain growing interest it must continue to invest just as any business would. Otherwise, you’re in a cycle of decline, aging infrastructure and declining interest will ensue. Clemson’s dependency on state and fed appropriations is not that great. The bulk of revenues come from tuition and gifts. If someone wants to write a concern about Clemson(and this would apply to any college), it would be on the impact of recent federal grant cuts. Clemson like others will have to sort what that impact on 2024-2025 and in particular 2025-?. They will adjust expenses accordingly based on those impacts

Exactly, an educated person would realize that the president has very little control over the debt. The real issue is all these politicians and congressmen that are lining their pockets. The truth is, 95% are corrupt because they would rather worry about their personal wealth than the rest of Americans. The middle class gets bent over constantly. Republicans/Democrats, they all are just rich people who play puppets to people that have more money than them.

Anybody with half a brain realizes that the worst thing that can happen to a politician in Washington, on either side of the aisle, is NOT to get invited to a cocktail party. That is why guys like the ones with any sense of responsibility and dignity only stay long enough to realize that most of those there are there for selfish reasons ....... basically to enrich themselves. How else does an individual making $175,000 a year wind up with vacation houses in several states?
