Enough with the platitudes and coachspeak; CK is a SENIOR for crying out loud! He should not be having bad days, especially when he’s been in the same offensive system for 3 years now, with—so I’m told—“the best group of receivers they’ve had for years.” All the hype and rhetoric just don’t add up. Not being ready to play has been an opening day repeat for far too long.

I can tell you didn’t listen to the press conference. He called out Cade specifically for playing a bad game.

I didn’t listen to him actually speak but since I know how to read…appears he called Cade Klubnik out. We don’t know what was discussed behind closed doors, nor do I need to. What would you prefer Dabo do in this scenario?

I don’t like coaches throwing their players under the bus. Leaves a bad impression and shows lack of ownership of the problem by the coach. And yeah CK’s a Sr. but he’s not the face of the program. Not in the way Dabo is anyway. Statements like that can get in an QB’s head.
Also, the “dudes got to be dudes” statement. It’s like saying “it is what it is.” It’s just drivel and meaningless. Unless you think that’s Dabo’s way of calling out the whole team for not being dudes. Defense has some “dudes who are dudes” (Aveion Terrell, for one), but are there any dudes who can block, run, catch or score on offense? What about the “dudes” calling the plays and making halftime adjustments? Where were they? Where’s the ownership there?

Nah, there was no throwing under the bus here. Dabo needed to call out his QB, OL and Riley. Those players and Riley have a lot of game experience now, so they can handle the justified criticism. Saying "Dudes gotta be dudes." is not drivel. It's like saying "The real deal has to perform like the real deal" or "A great player has to perform like a great player".

Throw his players and assistants under the bus?
Dabo was very direct in that press conference - I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the room duringthat team film review nor the coaching staff meeting. I guarantee you he wasn’t handing out platitudes.

what Dabo said.
He said it perfectly well. He nails it and called out exactly what and who needed to be called out. Read it again go find the video. Dabo is spot on accurate.
Cade was bad. He knows it
Riley didn’t help him out.
He called out players and a coach by name. He was justified and fully accurate without being demeaning.
Coach speak? What the heck do you think coaching is??

There is a theme tho. It’s big boy football and Cade shows these traits at uncomfortable level. Can’t sugar coat it, orher than to say he proved his potential against the 3rd defense last year. He absolutely did play like a Heisman candidate. W knew on order for him to achieve that kind of success he’d need to not show those traits anymore. He did. Hopefully he doesn’t again for the rest of the season.

Buyers Remorse Maybe?

This seems out of character a little for Swinney. Not much of ‘it’s on me, I’ve go to be better’. It was the fault of Klubbik Wesco Moore Riley. And I don’t think he’s wrong. These men are not amateurs anymore. By all accounts CU spent big $ to hold on to talent, and Riley was already in big money. Cade is still not making better decisions by now after 2 years + starting? Moore and Wesco suddenly can’t catch? Riley doesn’t know how to mitigate constant pressure or the principles of Run Game? The defense played well enough to win, but dominant they were not. How did a rebuilt O Line withstand the onslaught of two All Americans and a prized portal End? I dont recall hearing Woods mentioned once. LSU made mistakes too; fix a couple and the score is 24 or 31-10
And someone tell me I’m blind; I swear LSU looked significantly bigger than CU across the board. How is that? Okay I’ve vented. Go Tigers!

Players need to be called out for messing up on the field. We are paying them to play. They are Professional football players. No need to coddle this bunch. I agree with what the Coach said. We got beat on offense almost every play and the OC never adjusted to compensate for the defense pushing his team around. Cade should have been benched in the 4th quarter for at least a series. The backup QB could not have played any worst. It was 3 and out.

Sorry but your math just does not add up. Fix the mistakes we made and the score is much different too. LSU’s lack of scoring was due to our defense playing a very good game. Give credit where credit is due. The offense and our mistakes and miscues lost this game.

He’s coaching to improve and reach potential and he’s doing it exactly correct.
You did a nice summary of what some of us were saying. Walking out of the stadium..
Really Cade? Really Riley?
Now as far as you improvising. “How did a rebuilt O Line withstand the onslaught of two All Americans”
They scored 3 points and didn’t do much in the first half. The RB had one good run and they averaged 2.8 yards after that. Seems the DL did a #### good job controlling the LOS. So what did much of the second half? Throw tons of quick passes on the edges. They adjusted to what the front was doing.
“prized portal End”
He had a TFL and and our only sack of the game. From the DEs, he had as many tackles as Parker. the TFL and the sack. Parker had none of of either. Heldt absolutely did flash.
“I dont recall hearing Woods mentioned once.”
Woods had 5 tackles, second only to Green (who played great!) from the DL position.
“LSU made mistakes too; fix a couple and the score is 24 or 31-10”
Wait so they get points for their mistakes but we don’t?
“And someone tell me I’m blind; I swear LSU looked significantly bigger than CU across the board.”
Well even if so they didn’t win the LOS on either side. They came in with a plan to harass our QB, and it worked, but they did it by outmanning us upfront nearly the entire game, not by dominating from the big boys up front.
P.S. Batson is retiring after this season. I’ll be interested to see the next guy.

Well Dabo, where were you when Riley was not helping the QB by running the ball? 83,000 of us saw it plain as day, even Dumbo Kelly saw it and laughed in our faces about it. Riley, has never shown any interest in coaching, calling or developing a running game and our opponents know that. We are just backwards of where we were a few years ago when everyone put 8 or 9 men in the box because then we were no threat to throw the ball. Now its just the opposite where they just rush the passes and confuse us with coverages....

Dabo called out Riley, which needed to be done…

Agree Klubnik is not a big game player. He panics too much and doesn’t slow the game down. Hasn’t won any big games with the heat on. (The SMUrfs do not count….)

How long will we hear the word "panic" associated with Cade against good teams? Missing "easy" and "basic plays that were there", even though he's a senior in his 3rd year as a starter in this offensive system? Mental toughness just hasn't been his MO during his career, with maybe a couple of exceptions. It doesn't matter if he throws for 600 yds with 85% accuracy against all the weak-to-mediocre teams remaining on Clemson's schedule. Cade will never be believable until he consistently plays well under pressure and doesn't panic in key moments against top 15 teams. His potential career in the NFL depends on it, and NFL scouts aren't going to be fooled by meaningless performances against bad teams.
