Not what I want to see but looks like SEC

Jan 19, 2022, 9:21 PM

Is taking over in BB also. I don’t think we can stay on the court with Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, and most of the others. Duke and NC that has carried the water for the ACC all these years I don’t believe can compete with the top of the SEC. Don’t get me wrong. I personally pull against the SEC even in marbles.

Yep. Probably looking at 7 or 8 teams in. They do pretty good in baseball too. And ACC should be dominant in baseball. Adding Texas and Oklahoma will solidify other sports. Dominate in softball, dominate in men's and women's bball and golf.

We do have Soccer and lacrosse, field hockey. It sucks, at least to me it does. We're told that Clemson is all that matters but like it or not, conference affiliation does resonate. Worse decision we ever made was expanding into the northereast. Lots of mistakes.

“Pretty good in baseball”?!? The SEC is dominant

in baseball. And pretty much ALL of the major sports.

Major = sports that you regularly see on national tv

The ACC should be good in baseball, and usually is pretty good. ACC needs more top shelf teams in some sports.

SEC Uber dominance is bad for all of college sports but I doubt you’ll find an SEC fan reasonable enough to admit it.

This is why I'm starting to have less patience each year being in the ACC. Football has been pretty bad for the ACC outside of Clemson. Every year there's maybe 1-2 surprise teams that do alright. But outside of Clemson the ACC has to consistently good football program.

Baseball? Well the ACC is still relatively competitive with the rest of the country there. Always multiple solid teams in the ACC but the SEC has been dominant in that sport too sadly with a variety of their teams making Omaha. Wish we could get back to being a national power in baseball again soon.

Basketball? We know where Clemson is and has been there. But yeah, the ACC has been pretty bad as a whole at BB the past 2-3 years. Again, the SEC is taking over there also. It's frustrating.

I am not a conference cheerleader. I think that whole pride in a conference thing is childish. But you do need the conference to do well for money and business reasons and the ACC collectively has not done itself any favors. From bad TV deals, not bringing Notre Dame in full time for football, and a multitude of smaller things that have added up. Now with the SEC adding Texas and OU, they're grabbing the collegiate country by the throat with brand power and money.

I know we have that whole alliance thing going on now. But I just don't see that helping too much sadly. I just have a feeling it happened a little too late.

I just think in possibly 10 years (maybe less with how things are constantly evolving rapidly) it will be time to think about jumping ship if things don't improve for the ACC. For Clemson's sake.

(Ah, sorry for the rant. I tried cutting it down to make this shorter)

Yep, I have been saying all season if you look at the Top 25, you get a good idea how hard it is to recruit at Clemson. We are a mid to low end ACC team but our competition is not much better. With all their tall guys, Duke and Fla. St have possibilities and Miami is solid but every other team is not great. Conference needs to step up or we will step back.

New AD and Pres C should be getting Clemson into the SEC.***
