Deer Town of Lexington

Deer corrupt Town of Lexington....seeing as the sheriff is going to jail, several council members have been busted running illegal gambling machines, etc...
Your backflow valve annual inspection scheme will be the next domino to fall if anyone cares to check into it. You say DHEC requires it...not you....yet Columbia and Clemson do not require it. Why Lexington? Oh, and that threatening letter you send every year....with the nice convenient "partial" list of plumbers who are certified....well that's a racket as well. Cheapest guy I could find on your "partial list" was $119...;and they went up from there. So I called people NOT on the list, and it will be done tomorrow for $40.
It should not take too much investigating to find the kickback. It's there and that is pretty obvious. I tried 5 guys on your list, and 5 who were not on the list. The HIGHEST price for a certified plumber NOT on the list was $80..again I tried 5 plumbers. The LOWEST price on the list was $119....I also chose 5. The highest on the list was $240...lol
Your water already costs twice what it costs in Columbia without this requirement. The clock is ticking on this.....

And I am not sure why the Town of Lexington requires the test. Columbia doesn't. Sumter doesn't. Clemson doesn't. Conway doesn't. Heck, it's not even all of Lexington County either...just the town limits. My in-laws live in West Columbia, are not on Lexington Town Water OR Columbia water, and they don't have to do it.
Seriously thinking about a well.

Re: You have a testable device

because there is a process that would cause higher pressure on your side of the meter? Residencial meters don't generally have testable bf devices. However, business that potential to over pressurize or backflow crap into lines during pressure loss are required by state regs to install and annually test them. 40 - 80 bucks is good price. DHEC stands on utilities neck to collect data to assure it's tested. The number of rackets being perpetrated by utilities on customers in the name of DHEC fees is also rampant.

Something required by the Town of Lexington water company
Jan 11, 2015, 10:55 PM

They send out a letter each year demanding I pay for some #### back flow valve test. Then they send out a list of plumbers certified to do the test. This is not required for Columbia water, or even West Columbia water. But the Town of Lexington requires a test be done annually by a plumber and the result s sent to the water Dept. They say they will cut off my water if I do not comply within 30 days. And this is a residential home. All of my neighbors have to do it too. And the plumbers who donated to the water department or whatever, the ones on the list they send, are more expensive than those plumbers not on the list. Like 40 versus 240 bucks difference.

the water isnt as expensive if you actually live within the town limits. They charge those outside the city limits much more partly because they don't pay tax in the town.
All that said, you are correct. Lots of corruption going on there.
Outside of the town, the road paving debacles are legendary. Many roads go unpaved while others are repeatedly and unnecessarily repaved near electiont ime

and one backflow valve. I do not have the irrigation split with a separate meter like some.
