Here are our CWS appearances:
1958, 1959, 1976, 1977, 1980, 1991, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2010.
Eight of our twelve CWS appearances occurred before any of our current players were born, and our last one occurred when they were in elementary school.

Correct. Which is why we fired a Hall of Fame coach.

Because we shouldn't accept mediocrity that long. Which is why Brad is going to be gone after next year. And if Monte does as bad as Brad, he won't last 9 years either.
Thanks for reminding us of why we need to fire Brad.

Is this satire so you can make another point about basketball?
Of course it is reasonable to expect Clemson baseball to make the CWS. It won’t happen every year and there have been a few dry spells, but we are a top tier baseball program historically.
Fan support is excellent. Facilities are top notch. Tradition is there.
Please don’t let the low expectations way too many settle for in basketball infect our baseball program.

Not satire at all. It’s an honest question.

I have read several posts here this weekend with multiple people wanting Monte Lee fired. It just seems delusional to act like he’s underachieving somehow, when we aren’t even a top 20 program over the last decade.
Can we become one? Absolutely! And we should strive for that. But it seems silly to act like anything less than Omaha is a failure at this point when we haven’t even won an NCAA regional in 9 years.

Any one posting about wanting ML fired is an absolute moron who knows nothing about baseball. You can complain about some the decisions sometimes, be it lack of small ball, line up calls, etc. but if you've watched us play the last couple of years you can tell Lee is a #### good coach.
One I personally expect will make many trips to omaha if we support and could finally bring a CWS trophy back to Clemson.
Jack never got it done, but he was still a great coach, who I thought was going to be hard to follow. The team wasn't where it needed to be, and as much as I loved watching his teams growing up as child and respect what he did for university it was time. Lee has come in and improve every year. Getting to omaha is hard and people don't always seem to remember that.
Rant over.

The two sports aren't comparable at all. Basketball is a revenue generating sport, baseball isn't. Basketball uses full scholarships for the roster, while baseball uses mostly partial scholarships. Basketball has a history of being the worst in the ACC's history, while baseball is among the ACC's best historically.
I have no desire to draw any comparisons between the two. Apples and oranges.

I do believe we just fired a HOF coach that accomplished way more that Brownell. ML has only been here for 3 full seasons and this year is a rebuild. I can assure you if we don’t at least win a regional in the next 2 years. His seat will get warm.

That's 2 completely different things. Making the final 8 in baseball vs making the tourney at all in basketball. If we'd only made the baseball tourney twice in nine years, that would not be acceptable. We've made the baseball tourney 30 out of the last 31 years.

We are a long way away from the teams in the 90s and up to 2010. 2-3 of those years we should have won the CWS but didn’t. I can see us getting better as the year goes on and maybe making a super. I can also see this young team struggling and barely make a regional. The past 2 years we have peaked early then ran out of gas. I hope this year we get better and are playing good ball at the end. These freshman starters have already about threw as many innings in a HS season and have a long way to go.

2004 I believe we were the #1 overall seed and before the CWS started , the experts thought we would breeze to the NC. The whole team went cold for the first time all season. In 2010 us and the Coots were the best teams there but they put us in the same bracket.

Dang that brings back some bad memories. Greene booted two balls against the coots, after not committing an error in like 752 straight games. They couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat and the coots again knocked us out of the cws, when all we had to do was beat them once in 2 games. At least they lost to Texas in the Championship.

It was 2006 when we were the #1 overall seed. We won our opener then were shut down by UNCs current pitching coach. Dude was a lefty and topped out at like 86 that game, but we couldn’t touch him. We got knocked out the next game. Certainly a very disappointing end to the season.
In 2010, all we had to do was beat the coots once in 2 games to advance to the cws finals, but once again we were shut down by a soft tossing lefty. Then they beat us again to knock us out and eventually win the natty. Again, a terrible end to a great season.

I still believe in my heart of hearts that had we not gotten matched with them in Omaha we win that year. Rivalries are funny things. We had the momentum, you could feel it. Anybody else, I think we win. Instead, losing that first game flipped everything on it's head. They rode that, all the way to finish line, two years in a row.
Man, it still stings.

Seems like we started 2010 kind of slow and got hot at the right time. Yep we were playing good ball until the coots . The first pitch of the first game HR Tigers and then nothing as the Coots beat us twice. I thought we were winning the NC before that Coot game lol

Not until the NCAA addresses the inequities in how some

Universities like Vanderbilt Are able to use large endowment funds to provide more scholarships to his baseball players. When you have a playing roster of 29 players and only 11.7 scholarships for those players if you don’t have a large endowment you’re in a big disadvantage to the schools that do. Also states like Florida that fully fund college education also have an advantage because the cost of going to school in Florida to state university is significantly less than in the state of South Carolina.

THIS..... THIS!!!!!
Anyone who doesn't know about the scholarship differences in baseball needs to read up on the issue before bashing Monte for losing to Vanderbilt (one of the main benefactors of the scholarship differences) in regionals.
There is a reason that some of these schools can convince pitchers who are throwing 95 as a high school senior to come play for 3 years.
Lots of private schools can offer much larger percentages of tuition to baseball players through those endowment funds than public schools like Clemson who are handcuffs with the 11.7.
