Dabo is helping the baseball team spread the scholarship money around by getting Will on Football schollie. Taylor by all I have heard is a heck of an athlete and will be a boon to both the football and baseball teams.

I think if he plays both he counts a full scholarship used in baseball. I know of a kid doing this at another ACC school and believe that is how it works

If he plays both, it counts as a scholarship for football. If it's football and any sport, the scholarship has to come from football.

The opposite is true.
He will not count against the baseball team as a scholarship player as long as he plays football.
He will be on full football scholarship and count against our 85.
The same is true if we bring a soccer player over to kick like they used to do in the old days. He must be moved from a soccer scholarship to a football scholarship to be eligible.
This rule was made some years back because certain schools were using up the scholarships for other sports to bulk up their football team and get around the 85 limit.

It is a BIG help to the baseball team too!
Up to this point, Taylor is not only the best baseball player in the state of South Carolina for his class but he is one of the best players in the southeast.
The baseball team being able to get a kid like this without having to fork over a huge percentage of a full scholarship to get him on campus is a major victory for Monte Lee!
If he was offered a baseball scholarship based on his worth, that money will likely be spread between 2 other offers instead of just helping us get one more player.
I don't know what he will bring to the football team, but he is an incredible athlete.

I think that the NCAA rule for athletes playing 2 sports with FB being one of the sports, they have come in on the FB scholarship bc it's a full scholarship, Isn't that the way that rule actually works?

So is he from Ben Lippen or Dutch Fork. Article mentions both? Perhaps was at Ben Lippen and moved over to DF?

Yes transferred this season after the previous Clemson baseball commit, playing QB at Dutch Fork, graduated and enrolled at Clemson.
Weird pipeline the baseball team has going there.

The baseball people I have talked to say he has been the best player on the field in every game he has played for the last 6 months.
Trust me, he has played against some pretty impressive talent and that is a huge statement in favor of this kid's abilities on the baseball field.

Very smart of Will to do this. His baseball scholarship would have most likely been a partial one as I think there are something 11 1/2 scholarships. Hardly anyone is on a full scholarship.

Welll, he's helping Monte save part Schollies, anyway.

At least I think that is the case. Doesn't the NCAA force a football scholarship to count against the 85, regardless of other sport being played?

That's what I mentioned in my comment above, that I think that the NCAA rule is when playing FB with another sport, the FB scholly is what pays their way. Make sense being that FB scholarship are full ride ticket.,..????

Does anyone else think of the Tweeder character from Varsity Blues when they look at his photo?

That kid is quick and elusive. I am impressed with his athleticism, very much. Very good for a baseball player.

Love this recruit, his film looks incredible, a QB, RB, WR, punter, return man and all around baseball player!
I’m so grateful Dabo picks up kids like this regardless of their recruiting ranking. Should have made him a preferred walk-on so Dabo could give him a scholarship later to be a true Renfrow II.
We are at our best with Renfrow/Will and 3rd!
