Can a 3 year player come back and play after NFL career?

Can someone like Deshaun Watson, after retirement from NFL come and play for Tigers for one season and exhaust their eligibility by joining grad school or something? imagine a starting QB, a HOFer at 35 playing against college kids? :)

Has anyone done ever done that or is there a rule against it?

I was just curios about the rule and whether anyone has ever done it. sorry if it is such a dumb post..

No. The basic rules are that you have 5 years to play 4 or if you hire an agent/play professionally then you cannot come back to the college game...whichever comes first.

I believe once you go professional you cannot come

back and play in THAT sport. However, in your example, Deshaun could come back and play one year of baseball, basketball, soccer, etc.

oh. that makes sense.. Brandon Weeden played at 27 as QB in College, because he played Baseball professionally..

Played for NC St. for three years. Decided he wanted to try professional baseball and O'Brien was like h*ll naw, then played his final year at Wisconsin.
