Admit it.
AMC Gremlin ?
Ford Pinto ? (if you survived)
Chevy Vega ?
Mine was a '72 Vega with an aluminum block. All of my neighbors knew what time I came home because it sounded like a motorboat. One tank of gas and one quart of oil.

1971 candy-apple red VW Super Beatle. I absolutely loved that car, and we went through a lot together. I bought it on my 15th birthday for $1300.00 and ran 2 morning paper routes until we both went to Clemson in 1980. So many memories and stories with that car...

I bought a new Beatle in 1963 working as a soda jerk. My payments were $48 a month. Few kids had a car back then. I quickly learned that girls would rather go out with "even me" than sit home on Saturday night.

I bought the same car from the showroom at Frank Myers in Anderson. It had the white stripe, hood scoop with full chrome and a white interior. I still think fondly about that car.

Sad note - I was driving a cheerleader home one day from high school when the universal joint dropped while I was at a STOP sign. And, thus, began the problems and why no woman will marry me.

2.8 V6 you could absolutely turn the balls off of it to 95mph in 3rd.
Fun fact : The fenders were welded (not bolted) on from the factory.

However, it was before I was a complete Clemson Tiger convert. (I was living in Alabama at the time.)

Watch almost any movie or tv show from the late 70's or early 80's with street scenes, and you're almost guaranteed to see juan.

I had worked it out to purchase a Capri from my sister at a cheap price. That was THE car! The day before I was to pick it up, it caught fire and almost burned her house!

car from that era (or a LOT of eras) knows that LUCAS is really a 4 letter word, is alternatively short for LUCIFER.
I had a 1968 English Ford Cortina, I know whereof I speaketh. It seemed to be a weekly ritual, finding and fixing corroded electrical connections on that thing. White porcelain pointy ended fuses, anyone?

3 speed-semi, that is what I learned to drive in. First car I bought was a 78 rabbit. I believe that car must have spent time at the bottom of a lake….electrical system was complete trash.

'74 Vega. Every time I backed out of the driveway, I could see the pile of rust that had fallen on the pavement.
