Should colleges stop giving scholarships to players?

Once they make a certain amount of money, should the colleges stop paying for their education and housing? It seems players are taking advantage of the "system".

They are still a good thing for the players who actually need it. Not everyone gets NIL $$$.

That would be a problem with the current no rules portal and no rules NIL. If the schools handed out the NIL $$ it would be traceable immediately.

That's not what I mean. All the NIL dollars just flow through the schools, to the player, for record keeping purposes.

That is irrelevant. The players spoke in a union type mindset. They speak for everyone
AND ill say this. Where are those kids right now? They sure as #### are not speaking up on where this could be a bad thing for them

Scholarships are the only benefit most college athletes ever get.

I think this question will resolve itself. The very near future will no longer require any of the players to attend classes. Those who want to attend will still be offered a scholarship. Those only focused on NIL and a NFL career will just live regular lives when not on the football field.

I hope it never comes close to that, but then again I never thought it would get to this point.

No. Most College Athletes Need It

The facade that FBS schools like Michigan and Texas and Ohio State with large alumni a large alumni base is on average with say: App State or Coastal is ludicrious.
We all know the stat: Less than 1% of college athletes will ever turn pro. My guess only 15 - 20% of college athletes make any significant N.I.L money(would love to know the actual number instead of my guess).
As long as football, mens basketball ( revenue sports ) are paying the bills for schools athletic departments - they should give scholarships. How would the Non-revenue sports work?

The NIL players should have to at least pay taxes on their scholarships. They are no longer in need of them.

If the NIL money's there, they should pay tuition. If it isnt, put em on scholly.
But the problem with this whole disengenuous mess is just how absurd it has become.
In my scenario, one's an employee and the other's a student athlete. As for the employee, whose employee? The club's? The school's? The NIL collective's?
Or are they better handled as a 1099?
And why does this all feel so whacko?
And why dont we all see we're part of the problem because we gladly fork over the dollars to feed the monster theyve built for us.

School should be voluntary. Those who choose to go get a scholarship and those who don’t get the option to come back to school later under scholarship. This would let athletes actually choose a degree that could be challenging and they could devote greater attention to their studies.
