Dabo should take a strong stance on Nkemdiche....

I'd like to see Dabo Stand up and tell RN that we're passing on him and moving on. Dabo gave Robert a chance to NOT commit and RN has now poo poo'ed all over that commitment. I'd like to see us make a strong statement to all future Clemson recruits that we're not going to play games and allow these kids to control the media surrounding Clemson. Send a message that "your word is your word" and if your word isn't good, then good luck elsewhere. In short, I'm more concerned about character than football.

None of us know what RN has told Dabo and Clemson. I am sure

though, that they went over with him how hard it was going to be on him from the media, local fans, other coaches, etc. He may be handling it the best he can. We had a recruit a few years ago that played the field.Heck, he played the sports writers, but he had told Dabo in private, "Don't worry coach, I'm coming to Clemson". You cannot believe what you read......even if they say he said it.

According to NCAA rules, Dabo cannot speak about the recruitment of RN, or any other prospect. Our Head Coach is among the best recruiters in the nation. I trust him to be doing "the right thing" with RN. So don't sweat it. Just relax and enjoy the ride. These are great days for Clemson University and they're only going to get better. Go Tigers!

Spud, I have been telling some of these folks the same thing for weeks now. We have a MASTER recruiter in Dabo. And there is no way that Dabo is not in regular contact with RN. We have seen him pull the offer from big time players before... maybe not the #1 overall recruit... but remember, he did not hesitate to sit Sammy either.
I trust Dabo to do the right things,, the right way,,, at the right time. If Dabo has not pulled his offer, there is a REASON. A reason we do not know. Remember this: There is a big time DE recruit out there, who liked Clemson, but started looking elsewhere after we got 2 DE commits. You do not see him looking back at Clemson, or hear of us pursuing him right now. Tells me something about RN's talks with Dabo.
I just wish Clemson fans would get off RN's back and his mother's back in an open forum for RN to read! Even if he is 100% committed to Clemson, he may not appreciate what is being said to his mom. And you can bet, some of this WILL GET BACK TO HIM! Either from him reading it, other college fans trolling on here telling him, or even other school recruiters telling him how much "love" Clemson fans have for him and his family. Sometimes it is better to stay quiet, and let something play out, rather than speak out, and become foolish and self-defeating.

Agree...especially with the last paragraph...and so please don't ever mention that one of the reasons RN cited right after his commitment was how much he liked Dabo as a family man, how he treated his kids and his wife: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:8206210
Also, remember that RN hasn't always lived at home. I think his mother may have some guilt/jealousy/lack of control issues with these things.

That is the dumbest thing I've read. 1) you don't
Nov 8, 2012, 8:37 AM
|

drop a recruit of that caliber because there is drama associated with his recruitment. 2) Obviously, family is important to him. I can respect that. Maybe he wants Clemson, loves Clemson, but feels he can't publicly go against his mother. I've seen family relationships ruined because one person sees a public contrarian stance by a family member as betrayal. He knows how much it means to his mother that he and his brother play together. It's not easy to break your mother's heart.

.... just saying, I hate the drama and think it's more negative to our program than one kid's future contribution.

It gets Clemson mentioned every day and never says anything bad about Clemson. It just says he is still visiting other places and that playing with his brother would be fun too. Every mention in the Atlanta area is good for our program because recruits have the chance to read our name.

Dabo has done nothing because RN is a firm committ

trust me, if there was real cause for concern on his firm commitment, Dabo would know and do something about it. RN is playing the game like i would (or anyone that commits that early would). Get free trips to see your brother and every other campus and enjoy the hospitality and women.

committed to Clemson? The kid has a few months before entering college and knows he will not see his brother or family members as much. So why not take advantage of it?

OP #### he is an 18 year old kid who is being pressured from about 80 different directions.
His Mom, His Brother, ###### journalists at the AJC, Teammates, Classmates, etc...
You making posts like that are completely worthless. Step away from the ledge and let Dabo do his #### job.

I think the only message this would send is that a kid

should never commit to Dabo early. It could have real negative effects on getting a recruiting class built early because a kid would fear that even if he wanted to commit early but then decided to look around a bit then he would risk getting his scholly pulled. Certainly if it happened to the #1 recruit in the country it would happen to anyone else.
The big time recruits would all be smart to wait and commit late to Clemson and Dabo would have to take second tier recruits early just to make sure he was getting kids.
I can't see anything good coming out of yanking RN's offer. Some people on here need to toughen up and realize recruiting is probably a lot like politics and making sausage - it is not pretty.

Also, the Clemson coaches feel confident at this point in time that the Tigers are still the team to beat.
We aren't stopping our recruitment.
