Another question for you tools:

What's the best 40"-70" tool box outside of the crazy expensive tool truck brands?
Is Craftsman making anything worth a crap any more? I've outgrown my old CM 5-drawer cabinet and I'm going to donate it to my soon-leaving-home oldest kid.
Would rather buy US made but I read good things about the Harbor Freight brands (US General & Icon).

Top chest or roller? I have the top chest and it was like $350. The roller I got as a gift, but I think it’s like $800

I've got a mishmash of my grandfathers' two top chests and the one roller - I'll probably spring for a matched set. I want it to be the last one/set I buy
Have heard good things about Milwaukee too, but had forgotten tbh.

I don't know of an American brand anymore.

Maybe there's one out there. Harbor Freight has taken on the role Sears use to have with their Craftsman line of tools.
I had a 20 gal compressor for a month over two years. I kept tweeking, yeah and tweaking the controls to try and squeeze a bit more pressure from the pump. I finally turned it a bit too far and one hot afternoon it blew a gasket or something.
They told me it was a month out of warranty when I went in to check. One of the people there told me if I'd buy another warranty they'd change it out for me.
If I bought a new box it would definitely be from them. I bought two 25' measuring tapes in the 1980s from Sears and kept changing them out. One got lost and the other is still in the shop. I suspect Icon is going to turn out to be of that same quality.
Snapon-100 tooth ratchet, Icon-90 tooth. You might get in a pickle once in a lifetime turning a bolt or nut in a place so tight that ten more teeth in a ratchet would help you out but I never have and trust me, I've worked under congested automobile dashes and inside the doors. Never needed a 275 dollar ratchet to make things happen. They don't honor their warranty like they use to either.

several years back. Drawers rated for 100lbs. I got it around Christmas for $350 both the lower and upper set and I love it. Has performed perfectly for my needs and been durable. Was surprised that at that price it held up so well for close to 5 years and ain't showing signs of wear. I use it most days too.

But I’m with you. If your tool chest isn’t 5 figures, you might as well be using a Plano tacklebox.

it's like a bad decision rite of passage for the new guy in the shop who just got his own bay to immediately go into debt by financing a $12k Snap-On chest with weekly payments for 5 years. The peer pressure in that setting is real.
