My neighbor consistently

slams a full fifth of bourbon or scotch. I would say two-three times a week in one sitting.
It is quite the impressive feat considering he is a lawyer and he has to focus and ready so much during the working day. I have done it maybe twice in my drinking like. I felt like I was going to die each time in the morning, thus never doing it again.
Question I am posing....any of youse guise able to slam a fifth and keep your life together?

Like chug the whole thing at juance? I mean I drank 4 nights a week and heavy on the burbon side but I don't buy fifs. That's a poor man's game. I buy handles. Butt yeah I'd say I probably could drink a fif in a night and be aight the next day. Hell, I'm hear at work aint I?

about a case of beer a day...more if it gets beyond maintenance to partying level. One of them actually goes about one beer for every waking hour and has to add in liquor shots for when he wants to actually get buzzed. Both over 60 years old and neither has the physical signs of alcoholism yet. TRUE functioning alcoholics are amazing beasts.

One of these guys buys Natty Light in bulk weekly and has the cases stacked on his porch. I've known these guys since elementary school. This has pretty much been their standard for roughly the last 20 years. One retired early, the other inherited early. The joke in our circle is that after the apocalypse, it'll be those two, Willie Nelson, Keith Richards, and cockroaches.

Both also eat really good, which is odd because generally heavy alcoholics don't eat much at all. Both are pretty serious cooks, lots of fresh veggies. One has been married for 35 years, the other is divorced once and widowed once. Neither gets tore up drunk except maybe one weekend night a week, but neither of them could go all day and not drink some beers. Like I said...they're both amazing beasts, really.

that is expensive. Darn, a case of beer at $15, that is $105, then maybe some bottles of liquor.
Thats like lets say $150 a week, knowing they also hit the bar too. That's insane

slams that much prolly 4-5 times per week. Does he keep his life together? I guess it depends on how you define it.
Poor relationships with most, functional enough to remain employed (for now). Has lost jobs over it though.

I'm talking take a liquor drink to bed, wake up and work on it in the middle of the night. Or wake up in the AM and drank it. Drinks at lunch.
Pretty much MAYBE a 24 hour consecutive streak with no drinks during a given month is like Cal Ripkenesque for him.
His body and mind are starting to deteriorate. Under 60 yrs old. No bueno.

this is not something to admire. It is a recipe for cirrhosis and death.
However, if that is your goal, then give it a go.
My ex-wife was drinking 2 bottles of wine per night, and got up at 6:00 am to go to work the next day. I would sometimes stand in amazement. Then she was suddenly canned at her job, and talking to her co-workers later, they said they could always tell when she had been hammered the night before. Which was every night at that point.

One guy in the hood drinks about anything. His preferred beverage is moonshine. Seriously, and its pretty good shine. He also likes to smoke crack and just came back home last Saturday after living wild and on the street for 4 days. He takes off about once a month or every 2 months for a drug bender. It is such a waste of talent....smart, yet bad abuse problems. The guy has retired and has had some issues. Yet I'm amazed he has any brain cells or functioning liver left.
