My neighbor consistently

Apr 26, 2021, 1:46 PM

slams a full fifth of bourbon or scotch. I would say two-three times a week in one sitting.

It is quite the impressive feat considering he is a lawyer and he has to focus and ready so much during the working day. I have done it maybe twice in my drinking like. I felt like I was going to die each time in the morning, thus never doing it again.

Question I am posing....any of youse guise able to slam a fifth and keep your life together?

What do you mean slam a fif?

Apr 26, 2021, 1:49 PM

Like chug the whole thing at juance? I mean I drank 4 nights a week and heavy on the burbon side but I don't buy fifs. That's a poor man's game. I buy handles. Butt yeah I'd say I probably could drink a fif in a night and be aight the next day. Hell, I'm hear at work aint I?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

no no, not slam it Animal House style

Apr 26, 2021, 1:51 PM

I mean just sit and drink the whole thing like 5pm-11pm.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lolutz yeah no problem

Apr 26, 2021, 1:54 PM

I'm usually dranking between 9:30/10 - 12 and can cover that distance.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wait how much is a fif? It's those juans that fit in your

Apr 26, 2021, 1:56 PM

back pocket right? If so then yeah no doubt.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

pocket = pint

Apr 26, 2021, 1:59 PM

fifth = 25.6 ounces or the tall bottle

handle is handle

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Aight well I might change that then....

Apr 26, 2021, 2:11 PM

Maybe. Couldn't finish off the whole bottle in 2.5 hours. but if I was allowed to start at 5 then yeah I probably could, but wouldn't be married long. Wife don't like my dranking too much.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's 17 1 and 1/2 ounce drinks...***

No man, just no.

Apr 26, 2021, 1:55 PM

I went out on Thursday a couple weeks ago and had about 7-8 beers, and didn't feel right until like Monday.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that is usually my max

Apr 26, 2021, 1:59 PM

6-8 with a couple of shots and I am toast.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think I had about 2 more beers all weekend

Apr 26, 2021, 2:01 PM

on Sunday. I felt so bad I figured I couldn't feel any worse.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, but got a couple of my musician pals that go through

Apr 26, 2021, 1:59 PM

about a case of beer a day...more if it gets beyond maintenance to partying level. One of them actually goes about one beer for every waking hour and has to add in liquor shots for when he wants to actually get buzzed. Both over 60 years old and neither has the physical signs of alcoholism yet. TRUE functioning alcoholics are amazing beasts.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wait - a case of beer a day? For a 60+ year old man?

Apr 26, 2021, 2:02 PM

And needs shots to get buzzed?

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg2006_ncaa_champ.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes. That is exactly right.

Apr 26, 2021, 2:07 PM

One of these guys buys Natty Light in bulk weekly and has the cases stacked on his porch. I've known these guys since elementary school. This has pretty much been their standard for roughly the last 20 years. One retired early, the other inherited early. The joke in our circle is that after the apocalypse, it'll be those two, Willie Nelson, Keith Richards, and cockroaches.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is an impressive ingestion of beers for a prolonged

Apr 26, 2021, 2:16 PM

time. And are showing no signs of alcohol abuse? DO they get regular health checkups? I'd be a disaster of a human if I drank that much and would've probably been divorced decades ago.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg2006_ncaa_champ.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

One does doctors regularly and the other one doesn't.

Apr 26, 2021, 3:18 PM

Both also eat really good, which is odd because generally heavy alcoholics don't eat much at all. Both are pretty serious cooks, lots of fresh veggies. One has been married for 35 years, the other is divorced once and widowed once. Neither gets tore up drunk except maybe one weekend night a week, but neither of them could go all day and not drink some beers. Like I said...they're both amazing beasts, really.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

my mind went straight to.....

Apr 14, 2021, 12:42 AM [ in reply to No, but got a couple of my musician pals that go through ]

that is expensive. Darn, a case of beer at $15, that is $105, then maybe some bottles of liquor.

Thats like lets say $150 a week, knowing they also hit the bar too. That's insane

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I noah guy

Apr 26, 2021, 2:23 PM

slams that much prolly 4-5 times per week. Does he keep his life together? I guess it depends on how you define it.

Poor relationships with most, functional enough to remain employed (for now). Has lost jobs over it though.

I dunno but if you are "this guy" you got troubles.

Apr 26, 2021, 2:28 PM

I'm talking take a liquor drink to bed, wake up and work on it in the middle of the night. Or wake up in the AM and drank it. Drinks at lunch.

Pretty much MAYBE a 24 hour consecutive streak with no drinks during a given month is like Cal Ripkenesque for him.

His body and mind are starting to deteriorate. Under 60 yrs old. No bueno.

First off,

Apr 26, 2021, 2:53 PM

this is not something to admire. It is a recipe for cirrhosis and death.

However, if that is your goal, then give it a go.

My ex-wife was drinking 2 bottles of wine per night, and got up at 6:00 am to go to work the next day. I would sometimes stand in amazement. Then she was suddenly canned at her job, and talking to her co-workers later, they said they could always tell when she had been hammered the night before. Which was every night at that point.

Re: My neighbor consistently

One guy in the hood drinks about anything. His preferred beverage is moonshine. Seriously, and its pretty good shine. He also likes to smoke crack and just came back home last Saturday after living wild and on the street for 4 days. He takes off about once a month or every 2 months for a drug bender.
It is such a waste of talent....smart, yet bad abuse problems. The guy has retired and has had some issues. Yet I'm amazed he has any brain cells or functioning liver left.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I drink usually 3 beers a day and occasionally .............

Apr 26, 2021, 4:15 PM

a shot of tequila.

I wouldn't be able to function if I did that.
