Ban drinking or fireworks or both?

....or just a combination ban maybe? You can legally drink but not use fireworks at the same time or vice versa?

Banning stupidity was also my first thought. That would work just as well as the North Carolina ban on fireworks.

You can never ban them, but you can limit them, especially in certain areas. Like most laws, they aren't full proof and never will be.

Are you recommending free beer for all? Maybe is the latter stages distribute the fireworks. That should speed things up.

Should have asked this question to the dude at a block party in North Charleston July 3rd. Unfortunately he blew his head up on July 4th when he set a large firework on top of his head. His wife begged him not to do it. Did it anyway, killed him dead as a door nail.

To the people complaining about fireworks, it’s a handful of days out of the year at most. Independence Day is about celebrating our freedom. If people want to celebrate by exercising their freedom to spend x amount of dollars on fireworks and shoot them, by all means let them do it. Last time I checked, it’s their money, not yours.
If you’re so disturbed by the noise or people shooting them outside of the designated timeframe that they’re allowed to, then maybe you should get out of the recliner and go attend your local town/city council meeting to air out your frustration & concerns and present your alternative? (I know, that would make too much sense) But if that’s not good enough and you’re hell bent on a ban, then call your State Senator and Representative. Still not good enough? Then call your U.S. Senator and Representative.
But while you’re at it, make sure they also get banned at public events outside of the 4th and New Years, like football games in Death Valley. Too noisy, too close to people & buildings and they excite the crowd too much. And that cannon? Make sure it’s gone as well.
This is why I like living in the middle of nowhere and not among the b**ch and moan crowd.

It should be on July 4th as far as that holiday. Not July 3rd through midnight in July 6th.

So what is your recommended alternative/method to combat this issue? Would you like for your town’s/city’s Code Enforcement to patrol for fireworks the 2 nights leading up to and following July 4th? (Not joking, being serious)

I was thinking firing squads, but since that won't work I will go with ticketing like they do all over the country in places where it is illegal. Downtown Charleston, SC for example. It won't stop everyone, but it limits it.

.... ordinance the Sheriff's Office said they would not answer firework complaints until 2AM. I understand they don't have enough people to enforce it. I doesn't make the fact that the @###### in my neighborhood would not stop at midnight. As fireworks get larger and louder it makes it difficult. Yes, I am older and don't like my sleep interfered with.

They actually aren't legal everywhere even on the 4th and not legal everywhere all year. Moreover, get over yourself. You're the one who wants to bother peeps whenever you want all year and funk with animals.

They were illegal for Joe Public in Ohio, legal in Indiana, and illegal in Illinois. We could drive less than hour and buy them in Indiana but when driving back into IL you had to watch for the State Police. So drive in on one road and comeback on another because they were watching for quick return trips. Once we got them home, we shot them off without ever seeing the police.
Ohio was a different story. Around 1996, we took the kids from IL to Ohio for a 4th of July travel baseball tournament. On the way, we stopped in Indiana and bought fireworks. July 4th, we found a vacant lot near the hotel and shot them off. Before the last one fired off, we could hear the sirens and see the lights. I grabbed up the kids and got them back to their hotel rooms before the police saw us. That was the last time and probably the only time I'll shoot fireworks in Ohio even though they changed the law to allow it in 2022.
So I guess it depends where you are and how much risk you're willing to take.

Every ban fireworks advocate on here has an issue with their neighbor or near neighbors.......thank God I have neither....

Please point out where I said “it’s their money” as being a solution to banning fireworks or alcohol.
Oh wait……..I didn’t.
I said “it’s their money” because of the people on the other fireworks threads obsessing over how much are spent on them. My post isn’t a solution to banning fireworks or alcohol. It’s addressing the general I hate fireworks/noise complaint crowd.
But read it however you like.

A solution to the issue...others not liking, being infringed upon, etc. Certainly nobody thinks you have a solution to a ban or whatever.
Hope you have a dog someday that proves how ridiculous 3 nights of such "celebration" is

Finally, the dog comment. I was waiting on it.
I do have a dog, actually. In fact, we’ve had 3 over the last 25 years. Only 1 was, briefly, scared of loud noises, like fireworks and thunderstorms. Has never bothered the one I’ve got now or the one before.

Exactly. We need to start selling fireworks everywhere in the beer and booze section in ever market. The key is loosening the rules.

Good lord I’ve never seen such whining on this entire board as I’ve seen about fireworks. Great our recruiting sucks fire dabo, fire brownell, fire Clemson coaches… nothing is as whiny as #### fireworks. If I want to buy a bottle of pappys and buffalo trace and go fire off mortars all night leave me the #### alone. It’s fun, the kids love it, and I like bourbon while blowing up a grand. Who cares ########… leave it alone and quit ####### whining.
