the nine game thing seems to be another Swofford move

why is this good for the ACC or Clemson? Is this some way to get a few more $ on a tv contract that lags neighboring conferences so his shortcomings selling the ACC brand arent as obvious or what? why go to an odd number of games?

Equal number of home games is nice, but not being equali is not unheard of.

The division causes more problems than the odd game

For all I care, only count the division games toward the division championship.
Playing the top 3 while someone else gets the bottom 3 is more of a disadvantage than an odd number of home games.

WHAT? We are going to nine games but the ACC dosen't have a plan/a time table?
Bozo "Swofford" the Clown just can't get it done.

What he means is the ACC may go to 9 games as early as next year. We're waiting for the Cuse/Pitt shoe to drop. They're not supposed to come over until 2014, but there are strong rumors that may be pushed up a year by mutual consent.

To talk about a 2 game series being in jeopardy like
Mar 21, 2012, 1:39 PM

it will bankrupt the program is absurd. If we play this series(if you can call 2 games a series) and we do go to a 9 game ACC schedule, we would only lose one home game that one year. And if we are playing at home the first year, we don't even lose one home game if the ACC change doesn't start until 2014. Just confirm the game and end all of this speculation. The more uncertainty that is generated by dragging one's feet makes someone look less intelligent. What happens beyond these 2 years is a completely different issue - just play the scheduled games and work from there.

6 home games and play UGA. If we lose some money so be it, but we could over come some losses by more than doubling the UGA ticket price than anyone they'd replace the game with, plus some consessions. We'd also have to pay a buyout if we cancelled the series which right now sits at $500,000 so if we played it we wouldn't have to worry about that either. I understand wanting the 7 home games, but again, it would only affect us for 1 season and the UGA game is a pretty big deal to most fans. I think it would be worth making a sacrifice.

expansion (money, commissioners, & tv markets) but TDP has to do what is best for Clemson as well as economically. The Georgia series was great back when it had national implications, but now a days, it's just another defunct series. Besides, I would rather play games that put us in the spotlight or give us a chance of unseeding a non-conference Top 10 team.

Actually, with the 9 game schedule, Clemson will either: 1) lose a home game every other year or 2) lose any future home-home series with a reputible D-1 opponent.
I dont think Clemson will give up the 3-4-5 million payday that comes from a home game, and I don't blame them. Therefore, we will be forced to schedule yet another "cupcake." And given the "built-in cupcakes" in the ACC, this will only hurt us come BCS time.

UGA Will Be Happy To Not Face Us
Mar 21, 2012, 10:04 PM
|
|
I agree. My bet is UGA allows us to opt out without paying a cent. We will get replaced on their schedule with a chump. They have been burned by playing out of conference lately. The simple fact is like it or not the SEC teams do not have to schedule much out of conference. They are the one conference that can get away with it because of the BS in the media about their supremecy. All other conferences catch a load of crap for their out of conference schedules. Well, no one told the almighty SEC to form the NFL of college football as the Coots put it, so they should have to prove their worth out of conference like everyone else!
