Our commissioner is puppet and does not act in the best intersect of the ACC. He knows in 5 years this conference will fall just like the PAC 12 and he’s just trying to build his resume for when it happens. Meanwhile, it sounds like the BIG 12 commissioner is trying to do what’s best for the conference. Respect to him for sticking up for his conference.

Nothing the Big 12 leftovers can do. The master plan is almost complete. The Big 2 stripped the Big 12 and PAC of the brands worth anything and the only thing left to do is to take the 4 biggest brands in the ACC (Clemson, FSU, Miami and UNC).

If we move to 16 teams, I'm totally fine with 4 automatic SEC

4 automatic BIG 3 automatic ACC 3 automatic Big 12
Then 1 automatic group of 5. Then 1 at large: ND if they're ranked in the top 16.
Easy breezy.

But, I'd rather have only auto bids for conference champions. Which means that

with 16 teams, you're very likely to have:
6 SEC 4 BIG 2 ACC 2 BIG 12 1 Gof5 ND
But honestly, that's the most fair. If 6 SEC teams deserve the top 16 then so be it. Maybe 6 ACC teams deserve it one season. Why pigeon hole only 4 slots?

The SEC, The BIG, the Big XII, and the ACC all get four.
Honestly, until there is a change in the selection process which is currently controlled by biased committees (and that includes basketball, football, and now baseball), this will be an ongoing issue.

All of those points would receive massive push-back. The G5 would fight getting left out, there would be insane outrage over ND not being included, and the SEC and the B1G would never go for the B12 and ACC getting equal spots.
I also doubt it would be good for TV because you would have a handful of dog poop ACC and B12 teams getting in.

Miami would have been 3rd followed by either Louisville or Cuse...

Of course, if you go that route, you obviously have to make it contingent on the rankings. I also think if the committee concedes and gives 4 each to the SEC and BIG, they are limited to just those 4.

anybody but if their 5th or 6th team is better than the 3rd or 4th best team in any other league then they should be in...Syracuse/Louisville had no business being in the CFP last season...Miami? Maybe?

which is why I said rankings would need to be a component of the selection process. I also think the GO5 schools should be eliminated from the selection process. In most cases, this is simply going to be a participation trophy. They play a weak schedule and are then rewarded with a spot in the CFP.

You can add softball. It’s possibly worse than baseball.

He has no more influence on Sankey and Petitti than a city commissioner from Greenville has on influencing Congress to pass a bill.
Sankey and Petitti are interested in what Yormark, or Phillips, has to say.

Phillips is compromised by the side deals he’s made with ESPN to keep Clemson and FSU in the conference for a few more years. He’ll find a new job before the ACC implodes.
