I'm no doctor, but I can't imagine a knee injury any worse

than what Lattimore suffered yesterday, aside from the lower leg being ripped completely off at the knee. Am I missing something?

, yeah, doctors had to sew it back on as it was completed amputated and arrived at the hosptial in a cooler, but he should be good to go in a couple of weeks.

all the ligaments of the knee were torn, and if he can indeed come back from it, then it's hard to imagine a knee injury that a player could not come back from. Can't help but wonder what kind of careers guys like Gail Sayers, Joe Namath, and countless others would have had if they could have gotten their knees fixed like that.

It was held together by ligaments, too. It was just dislocated, like you can do with your fingers or other joints. You just have to pop it back in place physically. Nothing is severed, nothing is broken. Lattimore has rehab to do, and he's fine. No torn nothing. It was just popped out of the joint. Putting it back is painful, but nothing serious.

A knee dislocation occurs when the bones that form the knee are out of place. A knee dislocation, more specifically, is when the bones of the leg (the tibia and fibula) are moved in relation to the bone in the thigh (femur). The bones of the knee are held together by strong bands of tissue called ligaments. Each ligament is responsible for stabilizing the knee in a certain position. For a knee dislocation to occur, these ligaments must tear. A partial dislocation is referred to as a subluxation. In some injuries, the kneecap (patella) and its ligaments are also disrupted.

Nothing fits into something else. There is nothing but ligaments holding the whole thing together. There is no physical way his leg could be sideways like that without at least one ligament being completely torn. Based on the direction his leg was sticking it looks like he had to tear his MCL. Most likely ACL too.

3 ligaments. Lattimore had all 4 destroyed. He'll never play again. He'll be lucky to walk.

it is way to early to determine recovery....
lots of complicating things can happen with this type of injury...today...they gotta control swelling....watch circulation...and his function below the knee....and the rest of this week....
after all of that...they can determine the number of surgeries he will have.
