My late uncle worked on the next stadium upgrades that started to look like Death Valley today. He helped add the upper deck and west end zone.

I was Probly in that picture somewhere. Hill back then was mainly a childcare area. Kids would get one of the little footballs the cheerleaders threw out and play on the terrace halfway down or slide on cardboard. Folks could watch their kids from the stands. Stands were Probly about 60 percent full cept for Coots maybe. Attendance picked up bout 75 with the decent year and kept going up since then

Freshman were getting tickets on the 50 yd line lower deck in 1975 before the upper deck was built. Team wasn't very good in 1975. By 1979 seniors seats weren't that good.

very different era. Of course back then they were entering the field to warm up. Now this entrance is just before kickoff when there are lots more fans in the seats.

We got smoked by the Tarholes 29-0. I may have been there with my mom and dad, not sure. We lived in married student housing at the time.
I was born exactly one month after this pic was taken.

I was just commenting on the fact that you weren’t born yet.
But I guess a baby is viable at 8 months, inside or out…not that I want to start any political debates here. So I stand corrected; if she was there, then you were, too.

Freshman in '69...love the hedges, any idea when were they removed?...recognize all the buildings including the "P" plant. What was the building between the Shoe Boxes and the stadium? So was the "argyle" design a regular in the end zone or a "tribute" to "UNC"?

Good call on the shoeboxes. Question: the photo is dated 1964, but weren't the shoeboxes (at least the ones nearer the stadium) built after that?

Was able to get tickets on the home side in the 60s. Schedule was crazy that year. Just four at CU. After the first home game vs Furman, next five were away with one win vs WF. Tigers scored 105 points that year during a 3 win and 7 loss season. UNC 29 to zip and USUK 7 - 3. Other wins were FU and UVA.

This was before The Rock was there, which didn't come until 1967. So I believe the players were also still walking out of Jervey over to the hill back then

Yeah, it was Fike.
The shortest entry into Memorial Stadium was a short walk down Williamson Road from Fike Fieldhouse’s dressing rooms to a gate at the top of the Hill, located behind the East end zone. There were no dressing facilities inside the West end zone of Memorial Stadium… there was only a giant clock, where the hands turned, and a scoreboard that was operated by hand.

They would walk from the dressing room at the basement of Fike to the top of the hill and walk back after the game. I would stand at the door to the dressing room and get autographs after the game. Got bold enough to walk IN the dressing room one time. Frank Howard saw me and hollerd ‘GET THAT BOY OUTTA HERE’. I ran out the door, sure I was going to be arrested. True story. Found my Daddy, told him what happened and I was going to get arrested. He said he thought he could get me out of town before the police showed up.
