i could definitely see that Shelton wasn't himself this year

I'd even wondered how much he was practicing because he looked winded in many instances. I certainly wish him the best moving forward. I hate that we won't get to see him action anymore at Clemson.

I tried to tell you guys that his knees were really bad.

It’s too bad he wasn’t healthier this year, because a 100% Shelton would’ve likely helped us win a few more games.
What a gutsy performance by him to play through the pain and injuries. He wouldn’t have done that if he didn’t love Clemson so much.

Hate it - really like Mitchell. I like to listen to all of his interviews. Just a really good man.

This season didn't go the way any of us had hoped, but Shelton Mitchell is one of the most decorated Tiger basketball players of all time. This senior class is one of the best the program has ever seen. Wish him a speedy recovery and he deserves nothing but respect and love from the Tiger faithful.

half way through the year to take care of this for his future. That said, where was our training/medical staff? I can understand him not being totally forth coming about the severity, but if one of my players is constantly complaining about their knee (regardless of how bad they say it is) and I can see a noticeable change in their play, then im getting it looked at to determine the severity and getting the MRI then. He could have been severely hurt and not only ended his Clemson career, but any future career. Who knows, earlier the severity could have been such that he only would need a minor procedure, miss a few games, and then we maybe have him back to close out the year.

I’ve been wondering the same thing...

At some point...either he needed something done, needed to sit out to rest, or needed to have minutes limited. On the surface...it seems that the staff ran him into the ground. Of course he was tough and didn’t complain, etc.....and I suppose he had a say in the matter. I’m not a doctor or a coach, so I don’t know what to make of the situation.
But something just doesn’t sit right about the whole thing.
Nonetheless, Shelton Mitchell is a warrior and played hard for Clemson....will be remembered well.

Tough break, I hate it for him and our team. Thank you Shelton for playing through the pain and wanting to fight through it. Hopefully he can get that trimmed up and continue his playing career professionally.

Is this like the “sitting out of the bowl game” trend?

Serious question. Not bashing the young man at all. I wouldn’t blame him. Best of luck to him.
