how about they should tell him to take his phone off of silent so he can get the good news when he gets a commit? You don't think he's disappointed that he missed the call and wishes he had heard his phone ring? There's a good chance we knew about the commitment before the coach did.

Oh yes I bet Coach Steve Smith didn't call Brownell first. He definitely called Tigernet and made sure articles were written before he'd let the Head Coach know.

Why assume that Brownell is a moron and didn't think to turn his phone volume up? Has it occurred to you that he might have turned his phone to silent because:
He was in an administrative meeting?
He was meeting with one of our players?
He was visiting a recruit?
He was having a meal with his wife/family?
He was in public and was being respectful of those around him?
Goodness, the guy is a major college basketball coach. Please start treating him like one.
