New Sound System

I was very impressed with the capability, but the volume needs to be used with discretion. I REALLY hate to complain, because I'm proud of the upgrade. But kids around me were crying and had to be taken out of the game. I believe the main problem is with the quality of the source audio. On higher quality pre-recorded music (like the things they play before kicks, etc.) the sound was impressive, not too harsh, and fairly pleasing. But with poorer quality source audio, it was excruciating at times. This would be the announcers, the home-job stuff produced by Clemson (like the football intro video with Frank Howard), and the recordings of tiger band. I was pissed at folks complaining the whole time, but I too had to hold my ears closed. And trust me, I absolutely LOVE huge sounding, impressive audio. I'm not by any stretch of the imagination suggesting that we go back to having this thing sound puny and over-driven. There may be some EQ issues that could fix it. I just hope someone is working on it and realizes it can't stay like it was yesterday.
Overall, incredible improvement that can really enhance the atmosphere. Just needs a little work.

I think that the biggest problem with the new sound system was that they were drowning out the band at times (I'm thinking mostly when the band was playing Tiger Rag as the team was ready to run down The Hill). I understand that they are going to do the video thing as the team comes to the top of The Hill, but they should be able to coordinate that with the band playing.

out of the game b/c of the sound system or are you just guessing? I had a lot of kids crying and leaving me around me b/c the kids were hot and miserable. I thought the sound system was great!

The people that sit beside me had to leave. They went to first aid and got some gauze to stuff in the kid's ears, but he kid was still pretty uncomfortable. Heck, I was too. And like I said, I'm not some old fogey who hates anything loud. I usually love it. But it was shrill and painful.

Hmm sounds like the kids need to sack up one time

seriously, this is why people shouldn't have kids, they make enjoying a football game almost impossible.

Well, there were four adults directly behind me that left the game during the 2nd quarter because of the sound. So it wasn't just kids having a problem. Like I said, I hated the complaining all around us. I love audio, but this was bad. I could be related to where we were sitting. We're in the first row of the north upper deck, down close to the hill. Section TDK. I know each component in that line array has a fairly narrow dispersion, and I'm sure they have it mapped out pretty accurately. So maybe it's possible to put some attenuation into the components directed toward a specific area. I don't know, but hopefully there's a good solution.

"Just left a concert" feeling and having a hard time hearing normal conversation for a while after leaving. They did overpower the band at times and it seemed to me to lessen the traditional feel - I don't think we are going to change the fact that it is what it is, I just hope they get the production down to a better coordination and turn down the volume just a touch.
