Meh. I never understood punishing the kids currently at a school for illegal activity from former staff or years old issues.
An 8 million dollar fine is fine by me.

They did in the early 80's to the tune of 2 year TV and bowl ban and 20 scholarships (10 per year).

$8 million is a drop in the bucket for UT, cutting 2 scholarships does little with NIL monies available. But I do like that they are punishing the coach and 2 staff members if they try working at an NCAA school again.

What Tennessee was doing was providing pre NIL money. What they were doing is now legal - I'm surprised it was as'rough' as it was. Don't think things aren't going on at Clemson. My best friend went to Clemson and was a lineman. I think his day played there, too. He told of plenty of shennigans that went on there. Plenty of extra perks that wasn't legal the same as everywhere else. Things go on at all the big schools and Clemson is one of them, too.

We are talking about this decade and this was just a couple of years ago, not the 'Age of Granddaddies.'
Your Volunteer program is currently dirty. Don't even try to insinuate that Clemson is currently dirty. Yes, in the past there have been players that received fringe benefits while playing Clemson football and we were placed on probation. After our national championship in 1981, we were hit with a 2 year postseason ban and lost 20 scholarships for far fewer infractions than your program has. In the early 90's we received another year of probation for a handful of $50 payments to a couple of players.
If we are talking about precedents, Tennessee should be in the basement. Your program is lucky that the NCAA is now as toothless as the guys that worked for it the last time Clemson had dirt to air. As Dabo would say, my kid's grandkids won't be around long enough to see this program dirty.

Mjc3194® I agree. And, I'm sorry about the kids currently at the school. The schools need to be punished like the schools they set the bar with were punished.
With the transfer portal and not losing eligibility - if they don't want the weight of the program on their shoulders - leave! If they love the school enough - stay! Simple.
"Inconsistency" is what we are talking about. Apply the rules the same or don't apply them at all.
