In case you didn't know North Carolina has a Republican super majority in

Its general assembly. Also 40% of Mecklenburg county voters, the largest share, are independent. The psycho who murdered that poor woman on the light rail was apprehended many many times and charged with several crimes by Meck PD. The failing was with the judges who let this person roam free even though he was clearly a threat to society. The "leftist" mayor and city council had NO part in appointing these judges. In most cases they're either elected or appointed by the general assembly. This is just yet another example of the soul less MAGA Turhds using a tragic loss as a prop in political theater. They did it with Hurricane Helene and they're doing it with this poor family's pain.

Most judges (and all district judges) in NC are voted into office so no idea what you're ranting about. Mecklenburg is probably the bluest county in the state and the same gluttons for punishment that elect incompetent corrupt politicians every cycle do the same with judges. You can certainly try to somehow blame this on Republicans if you want to look like a blithering idiot but thats your prerogative.

NC is an odd place - Republican super majority, but with a Dem Governor.

I don't know the make-up of the Charlotte City Council - I guess the mayor is a Dem?
Harris got 65% of the vote in Meck county (edit: looked back as far as 2008, the Dem candidate has gotten 60%+ of the vote each election). Like most major cities - Charlotte leans heavy to the left.
I agree about the politicalization of the issue - but no need to act like Charlotte isn't Carolina (and Dem) blue.

I think they should be tough on crime, but also there has to be ways to help fund making sure the kids grow up properly, the best that is humanly possible. Maybe free daycare and other programs would be helpful. They didn't start out as murderers. I am not talking about changing them once they have gone to the dark side. I think there has to be some sort of comprehensive plan.

I would say Charlotte is politically light blue. Definitely not a Bernie Sanders crowd, but definitely a Roy Cooper style Dem. Asheville and Charlotte Dems are pretty different. Plus there's probably 100,000 or so conservatives of voting age. My councilman is a Pub, but I think there are only 2.

The only thing light blue about Charlotte is the UNC fans. It votes almost 65/35 Democrat and that is NOT light blue

time and sticking around long enough to provide proof of your "TRANNIE VIOLENCE IS HERE!!!1!" claim from last week. Yeah?
Again, I've got the number of school shootings in the US involving injury or death since the year 2000 at around 783. That's 783 incidents. I also have the number of confirmed trans perpetrators at...*checks notes*....2. TWO. The recent MN incident, for which there were other school shootings before and after the same week; and the Nashville shooter in 2023.
So if you're mathing, that's 2 out of 783. That Citadel education ought to help you convert that into a percentage.
Now, surely, you have proof of far, far more trannie violence occurring, especially in the form of school shootings, otherwise it'd be a kind of silly statement to say "TRANNIE VIOLENCE IS HERE!", which would just bely unadulterated bigotry if you don't have anything further to back up that statement.
Would you mind sharing? Here, I'll @ you so we know you'll see this. CaptCrash

Its a tragic failure from Judges, to local law enforcement, to the CEO of Charlotte Areas Transit System (CATS) not providing both riders and drives proper protection, nor enforcing the tix policy (which allows the displaced (( homeless and/or mentally challenged)) to ride the train who otherwise shouldn't be on it), such as the man who killed the poor girl. BTW that CEO of CATS makes over 300k/yr https://www.axios.com/local/charlotte/2025/09/09/city-charlotte-highest-paid-employees-salaries
There's a new "level" of displaced in Uptown recently. I cant explain it, more mental and homeless than just homeless folks. Its like a local mental institution shut down and they all migrated to Uptown.
P6Fuller knows whats up. He uses the CATS system more than me.
I can tell you when the Pabst family rides the blue or yellow trains (me, wife and my mom) i always site with my back to a wall or all the back to the far end.
Its not safe, hasn't been since COVID. Probably once every month or two you hear of people injured or killed on a bus or train ran by the CATS system
The CATS Transport Center (main bus termianl) is so effed up they cant even police it. There's non stop ODs and fights there. Mom mom lives near there, and we used to, its non-stop ambulances and cops there 24/7. Its so bad theyre removing the fast food restaurants out of it, blaming them on instigating people to break the law...its a pathetic excuse of the local law enforcement inept ability to keep people safe!! There was one family own Chinese restaurant thay had been there over 15 years....why now?!?!
https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/local/charlotte-transportation-center-businesses-shut-down-safety-push/275-d7287c3d-2a65-4414-a40e-810a7263dbe6

I've had no issues riding the bus or taking PT. I've seen some interesting people, especially between the bus station and College St. I typically only take the train during the day or early evening. My bus route is a South Charlotte route to Uptown, but a Freedom Drive route might be a different story. There is definitely more homeless people, but overall I don't feel very threatened walking through Uptown.

We won't walk by the transit center in the evening and definitely not at night. Not necessarily because we don't feel safe, but because we've had folks yell racial slurs at us and try to instigate confrontations. It's not worth it, so we avoid it...walk a few blocks around it when we go to see my mom.
While I've never had any confrontation on the train we never ride it at night. Only during commuting times or weekends when there's a lot folks with families or groups.
Lol no way id ride the bus to freedom or Wilkerson lol.
