Nascar imo is really boring but it's still
Jun 29, 2014, 1:22 AM

Greater and more exciting than soccer, or futbol, as some of you like to call it. Let's review - Nascar > Soccer...
Now on to my main point. I do not particularly care for Nascar, but know many people who do. I have often, in the past, told my friends who love Nascar my dislike of Nascar. In all that time not one of them has bashed me for not liking Nascar! Not one. Yep, that's right, not one single Nascar fan has ever bashed me for saying I thought it was boring or that it just s**ks...
However, say you don't like soccer to soccer fan and all hades breaks loose! Why is soccer fan so sensitive and care so much about what I, or anyone, who doesn't like it thinks? Can't think of any other sport/game where the fans are so sensitive, and seem to need your/my approval of their "sport"
One last thing......
SOCCER S**KS!!!!!

I still watch Nascar but nothing like I did back in the 80's & 90's like a lot of things money has ruined it. I don't care for soccer but will watch a little during the world cup. With that being said I here ya on the soccer fan retaliation when you disagree.
It's almost like soccer fans are all liberals, they love you til you disagree with them then they go berserk on you.

It's OK to say soccer s**ks but not ok to disagree? Or is it OK to disagree as long as I don't call anyone a moran for not liking it? Just checking before my next post?

twisting soccer fan's knickers is a national pastime. when the US kicked messico's #### & took tejas, part of the treaty required messico to keep soccer as a punitive measure, but the little fackers have been swimming the rio ever since using soccer balls as personal flotation devices. it's a plague.
tru story.

Typically it's because of ignorant posts on these boards about the sport.
Most of the time a non fan begins a post looking for attention thinking it's popular to hate the sport. It's not a response in a thread, it's a new post for no reason other than to make fun of it from someone who has spent a total of one hour in their life trying to understand it.
Most of the time it's someone who echoes what they are told to think when they were in high school and haven't had the mental ability to move on.
Most of the time they bash soccer because it's not hard hitting enough proving that they are mentally inept because they avoid mentioning basketball/baseball/nascar/golf, etc in the same light.
Those are a few reasons.
If you don't like the sport, I could care less but many of the posts are obviously attention seeking or blatantly ignorant.

Am I wrong on this assumption?
Again, I could care less if people don't like it, but those that claim they hate it always have the same talking points. Most of the time they are false assumptions based on lack of knowledge or repetition of false ideas.

After reading about 100+ anti soccer posts on this forum it's made it a little easier to have my assumption.
I know it's not popular to post my thoughts, but they do have some truth behind them and accepting that is likely difficult for many. Are they being posted by a soccer fan? Absolutely, but also someone who doesn't go around hating other sports because it's popular to do so.

if they don't embrace or care to enjoy soccer, and you wonder if your assumption is wrong or not? Holy cow.
you used terms like:
"what they are told to think when they were in high school and haven't had the mental ability to move on"
"proving that they are mentally inept"
I did not realize that soccer was exclusively played by the Mensa community. That must be why it's so popular in Senegal and Honduras.
You've got some really dark issues.

ClemsonFC if you don't care whether people like soccer or not why have you made dozens of posts denigrating people who don't like or "get" soccer? You are the main reason for my starting this post, you've gone on and on about how people who don't like "your" sport are basically ignorant hicks incapable of understanding "futbol" on your level...Hypocrisy much???

Again, I don't expect people to understand it or want to understand it. Doesn't bother me if people simply don't like the sport. It's not a sport for everyone, even in countries where there is a massive following some people just don't care for it. Doesn't bother me.
The blind hate by many on this boards is what bothers me.
I don't respond to anyone stating they dislike the sport and end it at that. It's the ones who say they dislike it because of lack of contact but they say they love baseball and basketball. That's just an example, I could pull quotes if you're that interested.

you.
you're as guilty as those you've targeted and seem too obtuse to realize it.
it's not a matter of like, dislike or what drove your madness, it's your thoughts, the written word, that's in question. your motivation is yours, you've made peace with that?
and you don't have to 'hesplain lucy, but it's steeped in irony whether you "see" it or not.

I fully understand the wording of my post and the thing I got wrong was if I used the word most of them. Not sure if I did, but if I did then that would be incorrect.
Several posters have the ability to understand that if if they dislike a sport it shouldn't require constant berating on boards with no reason other than to spark a hate thread.

both sides of the equation?
and i'll bash soccer as a boring sport as i see fit, whether you cotton to it or not.
you're more than welcome to regale us on how a long awaited goal is akin to 89 mins of foreplay then you and your partner climax at the same time when someone hopefully screams, "Goal!".

Again, doesn't matter to me if you or anyone else thinks it's boring.
Another example: the people posting on here saying it's a sport for liberals because sometimes there are ties and that moms like it because there aren't any injuries. It seems I've never once heard that argument as a negative against baseball or basketball. It's the same hear a quote and repeat argument.

Submitted for your/and soccer fans approval; Soocer-Nascar allstar game. Team A:Jr,Brad Keselowski,Kyle Busch,Greg Biffle,Carl Edwards,Denny Hamlin, and Jeff Gordon. Team B:Tony Stewart,Jimmie Johnson,Joey Logano,Ryan Newman,Kurt Busch,Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick. Should have plenty of yellow card(flag) action, and helmet to helmet hits. Sorry,no cars, only drivers, and no soccer balls.Goodyear tires will be used, and changed after every 4 trips up and down the field. And the winning team gets to take a victory lap holding the checker flag.

Yeah NASCAR is really screwing around too much when they keep changing the points system but as far as the racing goes.. I love it. 800hp racing inches apart. Sliding around.. I did the Richard Petty Driving experience and it was a blast. But you either get it or you dont. I totally get how some people watch it and just see cars going in circles... its not for everyone.

I absolutely disagree. NASCAR (Indy, truck, pick your car) is just about as watchable to me as golf, bowling, or ballroom dancing; in other words its not. Heck even the people who like it only watch to see the crashes. I'm not a big soccer fan but if the USA (or Clemson) is playing I'll watch. I same cant be said for these others. No I don't go out of my way to watch anybody play soccer but the same is true for baseball and basketball where you won't catch me watching a pro game unless it is the US team and generally I don't watch college unless it is Clemson or the championship.
I have no expectation that my preferences match other people's but that is why there are lots of different sports. Some people like NASCAR others don't, some like soccer others don't.

To me Nascar was much more enjoyable before the points chase. It totally screwed up the "sport" if you can call it a sport. Coupled with the fact they reduced and eliminated some of the best/most tradition rich tracks. I was never a huge Nascar fan, but since they started the chase and sold out for all the corporate dollars it's now unwatchable to me. Imo golf is more fun to watch than pro basketball or college basketball, minus Clemson basketball and March Madness but that doesn't mean that I think the golfers are better athletes than basketball players. They clearly are not...To me golf is more of a game than a sport, if a 14 yr old (Michelle Wie) at the time can drive the ball 300 yards and John Daly can burn down a pack of Marlboro Reds before he gets to the turn, it's definitely a skill, not athletic ability...
