I am perfectly fine with a couple of down years if it means

not sacrificing who we are to chase hearts and minds instead of chasing championships. We've all heard Dabo tell his team, "Be who we are! We're Clemson" most famously when he gathered his team at halftime down in Miami a few years back when Miami was trying act the fool when we were curb stomping them. I'd rather our recruits come here for the relationships and the lifelong bond they will have once they figure out that "there is something in those hills".
Coaches who are not doing this right now and are in on the highest bidding wont be able to stand in front of their team and implore them to "Be who we are" because who they are is based on what is best for them and not necessarily their team or their school.
I fully stand behind Dabo and however he navigates this unchartered territory. If anyone will figure out the right way to do it Dabo will.

I agree in principle with what you're saying..........

but there won't be just "a couple of down years"........if the NIL stays the way it is then it's the end of a successful Clemson football program.
There are probably 10-12 programs that can "KEEP UP" with this kind of money and Clemson is NOT one of them..............it's sad what's going on with NIL and it was 100% predictable when they made NIL "LEGAL" w/ ZERO parameters or policing.

The they that you're talking about is judges sticking their noses in college sports. Why didn't they include HS sports in as the same, they represent the HS as employees just as the judges said college players did. It's bc it was about the money, and for no other reason they got into college sports. HS players still have to pay for their books and everything that it takes to make it through HS. They even have to pay for their physical to play HS sports. Why haven't those same judges that put their noses in college sports, has done the same for the kids in HS sports, bc they can't get any kick backs for siding for a cause that makes billions in $$$$$$!!!!!!

I sure ashell wouldn't want to see him packing up his office heading to another school. But that don't change my feeling that he has a big chore ahead for the next 2-3 years trying to get a new set of Coordinators complementing each other to get our Clemson Tigers back to the Natty game!!!

when I did not know the outcome of the game in advance, it got boring after a while. I also remeber how excited I would get when we got a 5 star to visit us, I see nothing but exciting times ahead.

LOLLOL, I can't remember that far back that I didn't see a Clemson game. But when I lived in Honolulu for 4 years, all of them was late getting to me, but the time of living in Hawaii made it easy to over look, and spreading any size bill stamp with an orange Paw around Honolulu during FB season was fun, and for me back then, it was surprising with all the people that I met that knew a little something about Clemson!!!!

That is what has been preached to us for 7-8 years, that the best is our standard, and that the best is yet to come, and the way the best was yet to come was delivered, it sounded like the best was just around the corner!!! So I say to Dabo, and his staff, lets get busy with best, it due!!!! Go Tigers, bring the best to Clemson 2022!!!

This is a lie.
Dabo gets paid $9million to win, and if he as to make adjustments, so be it.

I know.
I was addressing the OP’s point about down years. I’m certain that the Clemson administration does not want to have down years because Dabo can’t modify some of the ways the program is run. Especially, at the salary he’s paid. I don’t believe that we’re heading for some down years yet.

LOL How is my opinion a lie?

My opinion stated that I trusted Dabo and would even if we have a couple of down years in my opinion. In my opinion I never even defined a down year. In many people's opinion, this year was a down year but it wasn't, in my opinion. We have a chance to win 10 games with a young team and many injuries in my opinion. My opinion, which is an opinion and therefore not a lie, is that in the future if we do have a down year, still not defining down year, I still support Dabo. He has more than earned my trust, in my opinion.

Possible 10 win season and you call it a down year? 95% of the college teams would love to have that kind of a down year. If you don’t understand that what kind of a fan are you

I'm quoting Dabo when he said he is chasing hearts and not

chasing championships. I never said we had a down year this year. I have been a Clemson fan since my first game when Red Parker was Coach. I can tell you all about down years. My point was I will trust Dabo even if we have some growing pains with the new coordinators in the next couple of years and don't win the National Championship. We will be back on the mountain top again.

I agree with everything that Dabo said about NIL and the portal. However, seeing FSU and UNC above us in recruiting rankings does not sit well. I know we had significant losses at the staff level but if you compare recent success, facilities and even the current staffs we are so far ahead of those two programs. I can't imagine a kid looking at those three schools and not choosing Clemson beyond some underlying family issues or other strange circumstances. We need to at least keep the edge in the ACC. Hopefully the staff gets re-energized and lands a big class in 2023. We will need that in a big way.
