Condoms, Etc. Provided For Ludacris At Georgia Spring Game
Apr 21, 2016, 7:21 PM

|
From the Macon Telegraph...
In the accompanying hospitality rider, Georgia either provided dinner for at least 10 people or paid $40 per person for a meal instead. If dinner was served, this included grilled chicken breast, wheat pasta, steamed brown rice and vegetables, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, two fresh fruit trays, a salad bowl and two platters of drumette style wings.
In Ludacris' dressing room for the event, Georgia provided a multitude of items ranging from assorted snacks, six Hanes t-shirts, vodka, cognac, wine, tequila and batteries.
The athletic association also agreed to stock a box of Trojan Magnum condoms in the room.

If they are willing to stoop into the gutter for a Spring game, then what are they willing to do to win during the actual season.

1) 65k isn't that much money when you consider the scope of the event 2) Ludacris is a decent enough performer as far as early 2000s rap megastars go. 3) It's a stretch, but imagine a world where an Atlanta-born top 40 mainstay (and action movie actor) is appealing to young African American recruits...FROM (in large) GEORGIA...whose first memories probably entail Ludacris' songs. 4) Safe sex and liquor in club seating are neither new inventions, nor are they gasp-worthy
Some of you guys are being ridiculous. The target audience wasn't you, sillies.

How'd you like Clemson to pay & coddle Edwin McCain to play for a Clemson sporting event? Not comparing the two artists in any way, McCain was just the first to come to mind. I think his and Ludacris music both suck.
But come on man, pretty ridiculous for a higher learning academic institution to go for, and foot the bill for something like this - all in the name of AMATEUR athletics - add in the demands/requests he and his posse were granted - THAT'S RIDICULOUS

Not really...as he mentioned, having this sort of performer at your school could be good for attracting Atlanta recruits, which is one of the most potent recruiting grounds in the nation. Teams like Clemson & Alabama have been able to successfully poach top recruits from under UGA's nose, and this could be something to help garner attention back to their program.
Before we talk about the ridiculousness of this being in "amateur" athletics, let's remember that we just broke ground on a $55 million football complex ourselves. It's a light veil of "amateurism" draped over a giant pile of money. If we spent $65,000 to get Rick Ross to come perform at Clemson's spring game, I would have applauded the move.

Yes, that Rick Ross. Re: his arrest, meh, he's an entertainer who makes very popular music. Let the guys enjoy his music, let Dabo help form them into men.

The target audience certainly wasn't us... but it sounds like a mediocre rap "star" getting smashed and skanking some ho's backstage at the spring game is how they roll at UGA for the spring game. As for the "target audience", here at Clemson the audience is the families that come out on a spring Saturday, so yeah... definitely not the kind of thugs that will be getting arrested before they get to suit up for the dawgs this fall. Sounds to me like you would probably fit in better in Athens, coug. Sounds like your scene. Maybe you can tag-team tap some ho backstage with Ludacris.

Did I even come close to suggesting that Clemson should have done the same for their spring game?
It's pretty clear I struck a nerve in taking a swipe at your ridiculous sensibilities regarding black people. I apologize for making you feel bad, but if it's all the same to you, I'll continue to "fit in" at Clemson. Got it?

YOU are the one who said that there was a target audience for Ludacris, and it obviously wasn't the average family that packs up the truckster on a spring Saturday and heads to campus to watch a college spring game. Specifically you said "young African American recruits...FROM (in large) GEORGIA". So it was YOU are the one who made a racial connection to UGA's brain-dead choice to have this creep perform at their spring game and to provide the backstage indulgences for him and whoever he brings with him.
As for criticizing ANYONE'S "sensibilities", you need to check yourself. To put it as gently as possible, you lack wisdom and judgment.

Wow, race bait much? You're not much at reading comprehension, eh? My post had nothing to do with race. My point was, I'll repeat it since you clearly didn't comprehend, that amateur athletics involving and paying entertainers & celebrities should not mix! That's fine in the NFL, no place for it in college athletics. That totally contradicts what college sports are about...
You're a sensitive little fella aren't you?

EVERY performer has a list of required items when they perform. If they released lists for major acts, this list would look tame.
This site shows the demands for artist such as Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, etc. Kanye West is ridiculous.

Maybe those 95k at the spring game can propel you to the top of the SEC East? I mean it's not like your roster isn't loaded with 4 & 5 stars. You're in the weak side of your conference and can't even win it on a regular basis...And you come here talking smack?

your previous high but nobody was there for the concert? Do you think anybody else is stupid enough to believe that? They had the concert to draw the people and create some excitement. All we need for excitement is just the Tiger team.
